03/8/2012 16:14 | John Simpson, I LoL'd when I read your newspaper vs I-pad gag (if that's the correct internet terminology?). Superb. Nicer price action this afternoon. Let's hope that the longed for level of 400p becomes a memory soon. All the best, John | ![]() 2350220
03/8/2012 15:53 | I never did believe Evil Knievil about Avanti, bit of a shame, I could have saved some money by not investing too early. Off topic:- All this about newspaper verses iPad should really be on a newspaper bb such as Trinity Mirror. This from Simon Cawkwell today's diary:- "I have no idea why Trinity Mirror (TNI) took so long to come through. But it has. The next mystery is why the stock stands at 37p. Double that would be more like it. I suppose it is fearful holders grabbing a trifling 30% rise. Silly billies." Trinity Mirror was recently at 27p or a PE of 1. Its now on a PE of about 1.5 and debt is not significant either. | shanksaj
03/8/2012 15:31 | I'm sure your right Hpcg and I don't disagree at all......but I do feel we are due to move forward a bit more......but slow and steady is good as the real value is going to come a little bit further down the line. | ![]() yorgi
03/8/2012 15:29 | yorgi, I agree with jonnib, I'd much rather see a gradual rise with no gaps than a chart like a mountain range. That is speaking as a shareholder rather than a trader. Shareholders will get most profit by the company trading at a consistent high multiple which is supported by regularly hitting or exceeding revenue and profit targets. I want growth orientated institutions as owners and not to be the target of hedge fund games so I can safely apply a bit of leverage. I certainly don't want to be taken out on the cheap in these early days which is a risk if there are too many holders with a decent amount of short term gain to crystalise. | ![]() hpcg
03/8/2012 15:04 | I bought an ipad for my dad. He loves it . . . | johncsimpson
03/8/2012 14:13 | They still need to develop an iPad with disposable absorbant topside.... else they will never be any good for lining Gumi's toilet area in his hutch. | shanksaj
03/8/2012 14:13 | TW's view today : Avanti Communications* - Successful 'Hylas-2' satellite Launch Today (2012-08-03 12:00:51)Print this Article Avanti Communications* - Successful 'Hylas-2' satellite Launch Avanti Communications* (AVN) has announced its second, 'Hylas-2', satellite was successfully launched last night. Describing the launch as "perfect", the company noted a series of pre-planned in orbit acceptance tests will now be undertaken over the coming three months before service for customers commences. The satellite is to provide high speed data capacity across Africa, Caucasia and the Middle East data markets that have previously left companies, governments and consumers poorly served and which thus give Avanti "great confidence that our decision to move into emerging markets was the right one, and our early mover advantage should drive strong profitability". The shares have only nudged forward to a current 386p in response, though they have been strong performers in the months leading up to the launch having been trading below 250p as recently as April. However, they hit highs of 735p in late 2010 and I have previously updated on how a share price in a few years of at least £15 is implied, noting there are other ways of looking at Avanti which might lead you to expect a £20 share price. I note brokerage, Daniel Stewart, has updated today with a 2,052p discounted cash flow based target price, stating "demand for broadband services, notably mobile and internet in emerging markets should burgeon during the coming decade. Overall, Avanti offers a profitable and secure earnings stream that captures this demand". At up to 500p, my stance is "strong buy". | ![]() yorgi
03/8/2012 14:12 | yorgi - at least the idiot derampers have had to move on. Much damage done by false rumour, lies and inuendo but we are now back on track. Happy days that all is moving forward nicely. Roll on Hylas 3. S | ![]() smarm

03/8/2012 13:47 | Estienne, You don't post here too often and when you do it's mostly rubbish, but you need to keep up to speed and I think you mean drivel not dribble . . . I changed my mind about posting (it's allowed) but if you'd kept abreast of things you'd know I sold my AVN shares (post 198 and 207 above) around the weekend of 13 to 17 July. A total of eight sales, six above 400p before the subsequent retrace. So I did OK as I bought in at 305ish down to 250ish I also posted these buys but on the other thread where subsequently my chartists views were not much liked and I migrated here. But you? Not sure where you're coming from or why you bother. Still now you are here, any update on your posts from earlier this year? Estienne - 23 Mar'12 - 10:30 - 21 of 215 Now that it has slipped below 250p I expect it to drop further and settle at 175p prior to the launch. After the launch we may see it rise to the 350p level where I would expect it to remain for a few years. Estienne - 04 May 2012 - 09:00:50 - 28 of 216 The T1PS are getting excited about the current rise, lets hope it keeps up and doesn't result in more people buying at inflated prices. -------------------- No? I thought not. I'll be waiting for another buying opportunity in the days / weeks ahead. You'll probably read it here if my posting doesn't bother you. | johncsimpson
03/8/2012 13:13 | Do you mean iPad ? | kfp
03/8/2012 13:10 | Mobile phones, iPads? I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law last weekend when I asked if they'd got a newspaper. "We're in the 21st century now" he said. "We don't waste money on newspapers. Here, you can borrow my iPad." I can tell you, that bloody fly never knew what hit it. . . | johncsimpson
03/8/2012 12:53 | The only good thing about "getting on" in years Shanksaj we have seen so much more and have probably learnt a bit along the way.......mobile phone for kids....two tins and piece of string :-) | ![]() yorgi
03/8/2012 12:49 | Yorgi Not when they first came out! But I do remember boys at school attaching a wire to a school radiator and picking up a radio station... a crystal radio or cat's whisker radio. Can't remember if there was a brief craze for them or if it was just one boy who had one. ... but it was pretty fascinating at the time, hence I've not forgotten it. Now my wife and I are 'home-schooling' our kids, I shall add such an experiment to the science curriculum. Thanks for the reminder. | shanksaj

03/8/2012 12:47 | I have to say yogi I didn't expect much. If anything I thought yesterday would have brought a drop. I reckon its all good to see a nice gentle rise just like we have been seeing. Cant help but see this gradually climb for sometime now after all we are not far off from being in profit.... all being well. | ![]() jonnib
03/8/2012 12:35 | I thought that your were not going to post here any longer? i must say how ammusing it is to read the sad dribble on the Yorgi board from JS and others commiserating the failure of the share price to take off! | ![]() estienne
03/8/2012 12:25 | I have to say I had expected a better week than we have had a thought with the launch going perfectly to plan we would have seen a more positive share price this morning.......oh well ! | ![]() yorgi

03/8/2012 11:55 | I remember Winston Churchill's funeral on B&W telly.... just. Seemed like a nice man, gave his life for his country.. or something like that, said the commentator. I thought he was meaning that 'he died so that we might live' ... like the Saviour. | shanksaj
03/8/2012 11:22 | It'll never happen . . . | johncsimpson
