03/10/2011 12:01 | greengiant, I think so! But I think the big opportunity is with Hylas 2 (and Hylas 3). See my post 6844. | garymott
03/10/2011 11:54 | The only thing that worries me is this statement, need time to really understand it "Given that the HYLAS 1 satellite has relatively modest capacity available, we are confident that it will be full within the three years we have forecast. We have already sold enough capacity to fill the satellite to 36.7% usage by the end of that three year period, we are adding new customers every month..." Because on the 18th April they released the following.. "Avanti is pleased to confirm that at service launch, having confirmed contracts and orders, the peak utilisation rate under HYLAS 1 aggregate contracts is 35.1% which comfortably exceeding the 25% target set pre-launch." Does that mean that they have only increased capacity by another 1.6% in that time period? I don't know yet. gg | ![]() greengiant

03/10/2011 11:45 | GaryMott, Still here just sitting by reading the masses of news flow and wondering what the hell we are doing down here! Unfortunately, this stock is being hampered by horrible market conditions. In the results the company has gone to a great deal of trouble to explain away the demand / supply factor which in effect means that this company will compete on a product offering rather than a commodity price basis. Overall demand is outstripping supply so Avanti are in a good position. The only problem I see is that there is a window of opportunity to maximise returns in the short term before other suppliers enter the market and start to drive prices down. I will continue to hold and continue to believe in this story, however, unless the market in general improves, I cannot see this rising much, but then again, I cant see it falling much. Patience again is key gg | ![]() greengiant
03/10/2011 11:05 | Yep, this is a company with big potential, despite the traders. As WB said: "Wall Street makes its money on activity. You make money based on inactivity. Your broker is like a doctor who makes money based on how often to change pills. You want to be away from any environment that stimulates activity." i.e. ignore the traders and expect a long ride | ![]() 1356

03/10/2011 10:45 | Very true Backmarker :-) | ![]() yorgi
03/10/2011 10:35 | good to see that Hylas 3 got a mention as having commenced. better than the statements today I very much liked the strong tone of that interview earlier this month. like everyone else I wish I'd sold at £7 and had operated a stoploss, etc. but every time I look at my investment in AVN I don't see much else I want to swap it for. whatever the markets do in the short term I really do believe that AVN will make me a good profit eventually. it would be nice if that had taken a year, but it will still be nice if it takes two years. the point about investing is that it's nice to be able to take a profit after only a short period, but you have to be prepared to sit it out and wait for the longer term in most cases. | ![]() backmarker
03/10/2011 10:31 | Being blue at all in this market is good......I think we are at the bottom.....but I have thought that wrongly before. | ![]() yorgi
03/10/2011 10:29 | Results not bad at all BUT not much impact on the S/P and I have fears that it will continue to drift down. | ![]() pojscott
03/10/2011 10:23 | someuwin - you're right, Daniel Stewart really are very poor when it comes to their AVN research, once again they are ridiculously wide of the mark. AVN results not far from the consensus view. Grouch | ![]() lavagrouch
03/10/2011 10:19 | I did add just over 500p Argy :-( but have added more recently much lower :-) | ![]() yorgi
03/10/2011 10:19 | Really liked this bit: "Although for most companies the general economic backdrop probably seems unhelpful, we see no sign of this in the high growth markets of Africa and the Middle East, so I believe we made good strategic decisions in that, following the launch of HYLAS 2, 75% of our capacity will address growth markets. There is strong demand for HYLAS 2 capacity from commercial customers in Africa and government customers in the Middle East and we expect to convert this demand to further significant backlog before launch." Very important to my investing is a strong non-UK base, so glad to see large proportion of revenue will come from overseas. This coupled with the multi-industry spread (i.e. not just residential) means I'm confident this Board will reward long-term shareholders. I fully expect the shares to be well above £10 by the spring trading update of 2013. Seems a long time off, but that's when we'll get a clear picture of 2 satellites generating revenues for a year. | ![]() 1356

03/10/2011 10:07 | Actually yorgi you would have probably been buying back nearer £5 when the Directors were last buying in size and be sat on a big % loss on those! | ![]() argy2
03/10/2011 10:00 | Hindsight is a fine thing Argy :-) Yes if I had known I would have sold the lot then and be buying back now........but if only ! Nothing has changed in AVN prospects, business just the share price which has been horrendous. A | ![]() yorgi
