gorvachof. the fact that you state "discredit everyone with a negative view" sais it all for me. Like i have stated before, the same few de rammers appear just as EK puts in his short. The statements they come out with are simply designed to get the same arguments going again. These arguments have been shot down and debated to death by facts not made up assumptions. Short sellers or not this stock didn't get hit like many others during the most volatile couple of weeks of recent market conditions so im not worried by small fluctuations in price movement and the de rammers aren't even very good at what they do or they would come up with far better arguments against avanti rather than the same tripe that has been dismissed many times.

Yorgi I understand why you may try to discredit everyone with negative view. However I believe I have been fair and sometimes kind with everything I have said, For and against.

No problem Geh.

BTW,Kames(formerly Aegon) held approx 3.6 million shares and have reduced by approx 400,000.Don`t see that as particularly significant as the sales could have been done for a variety of reasons and they still hold a sizable wedge.

Blue I've been trying remember the stock he was boasting that he was shorting the other day which shot up on a offer from HP, then somehow he claimed that he had a lucky escape........Somehow something didn't ring true !

As I say you quite obviously don't understand the technology and have not done any research or you would understand that the only competition that AVN have for their business plan is from other sat companies. Sorry rwilliams but you clearly have not done your homework.

Some basic simple research Gorvachof I noticed you registered with ADVFN last November, about the time the shorting campaign started !

With just the occasional post elsewhere you seem to confine yourself to posting negative postings on AVN.......that seems to say it ALL !

Billy, market in general not good and added to that it has been subject to heavy shorting campaign all this year and this has lead to many to question their judgment and hence the price. On the bright side it has given people opportunity to buy/add and a great price.

I was pleased to be able to :-)

I have never known a company to have so many astronomical target prices from brokers and tip sheets and yet demonstrate such little bullish sentiment.

Don't know if this has already been posted, from GECR/T1ps:

Avanti Communications* - Continuing Contract Success. Reiterate "Strong Buy" at 327p – Base-case target 1,061p, Upside-case 2,182p

On 3rd August, satellite operator Avanti Communications announced that the world's leading provider of satellite broadband for home and office, Hughes Network Systems, has fully allocated its initial £7.5 million purchase of capacity on Avanti's Hylas-1 satellite and "has signed a new contract in additional beams over and above their original commitment".

Avanti then followed this up on 11th August when it announced Novasoft Corporación S.L. as a new customer on Hylas-1 in Spain. Novasoft is working with the regional government of Extremadura in a project to provide subsidised broadband services to customers in rural areas that cannot access terrestrial broadband – with the agreement further evidencing that Avanti's working with government funded rural broadband projects can be replicated around Europe.

Such clear interest in Avanti's offering, and the company now having more than 70 customers installing Hylas-1 services in 14 countries in Europe, means it looks strongly positioned to fully sell out the capacity on the satellite within its three year target. The company has previously noted the satellite can serve around 300,000 end-users and the Hughes press release on its Hylas-1 news included;

"According to the latest data published by Eurostat, broadband penetration rates average only 25 percent across EU countries, leaving over 30 million households and small businesses without high-speed Internet access. To address this vast untapped market, Hughes Europe is announcing a program for value-added resellers to offer high-speed Internet access using the company's market-leading HN satellite platform, operating over Avanti's high-capacity, Ka-band satellite, Hylas 1."

Hughes is also an important partner in relation to Avanti's second satellite, Hylas-2. The 3rd August announcement re-emphasised that this remains on track for launch in the second quarter of 2012 and that the company is also seeing "very strong interest" in the capacity to be provided by this satellite. This is coming from both existing Hylas-1 and new customers and there is noted to be particular interest in the developing countries this satellite will cover – with Hylas-2 extending Avanti's coverage to Africa and the Middle East.

The positive demand dynamics Avanti is seeing are married with industry supply-restricting factors such as scarce, finite and highly regulated satellite spectrum and high capital intensiveness. Thus even with some competition emerging, Avanti looks to be in a 'sweet spot' in terms of its market – with the current risk of any intense pricing pressure or failing to sell out capacity appearing very small.

With migration of Avanti's customer base to Hylas-1 recently completed in June there exists a gap period before the company will be able to release a results statement demonstrating the high-visibility earnings prowess of its satellites business. This, coupled with general stock market nervousness, has facilitated something of a bear-raid on Avanti's shares – the current share price sees them trading at not far above two-year lows. The significant operational progress the company has made in this timeframe hints at the incongruity of the current share price and we presently have a base case valuation of 1,061p per share and continue to see the impediments to our upside case of 2,182p falling away. As visibility on sales rates, prices and future satellite launches further develops, we anticipate being able to raise our valuation further. We thus view the current share price as an excellent opportunity to get on board what is a unique, fast-emerging intercontinental satellite player. We reiterate our stance of Strong Buy.

You obviously don't understand the technology rwilliams57 or have done much research.

Also quite interesting that your last 5 posts have all been on the AVN BB a company you rate as not having a future...... Odd way to spend you time I would have thought.

I agree. Hopefully, as well as news updates re contracts for H1, we might get a progress update re H2 due for launch March/April 2012

We would be expecting a loss this year I agree Jeffian. As you rightly say it is the take up of Hylas1 and contracts that will be the most important news along with increasing revenues.

It is all to easy to have ones opinion of a company swayed by the share price but I remain as confident today as I have ever been.
