I took my pet snow leopard for a walk around the garden earlier this morning and I found the remains of a satellite that had not completely burnt up while falling back to earth......My first thoughts were "oh no why didn't I listen to Gorvachof it must be Hylas1" luckily I was wrong ! It had Sputnik 1 written on the side :-)

The general mood seems to imply September could well see a good recovery in the market. Hopefully see a significant bounce in oversold stocks like AVN.

Martin you havent got a clue have you? Of course its relevent if people are mentioning africa.
Derampers?? I'm not short, those arguments have not been shot down and are still very relevent and worth talking about.
Also when did I say satellite doesnt have multiple uses (I agree) or even that its share price cannot rise back up (obviously).

Anyway, heres another link you'll be more pleased about as it has todays date on it.

Jonnib,

I thought perhaps I was wrong to dismiss and ignore Gorvachof and decided to debate with him again recently but quite frankly I was wrong, there was clearly no point.

lol the de rammers are back as soon as it heads north....gorvachov you have been round long enough to know that everything you have said although worthwhile has been debated time and time again over the last 6 months. if you don't have anything relevant or new to add why bring up the same old out dated debate which has been shot down and put to bed. The satellites will be used for a multitude of tasks and broadband is just one of them but you already know that thats why people get suspicious of you motif

'Therefore, we need to do the job of communicating the notion that the satellite business can build very significantly to multiple orders of magnitude and have value creation during a long period of years'.

surgeon, 'heal thyself'!

what a dose of hypocracy, this co is as comminicative as a pebble!

Good inerview with the CEO...

"...There is no doubt there is strong military demand. We have seen that in terms of public procurement announcements, particularly from the U.S. Department of Defense. Avanti is seeing a lot of interest from its military services around the world. That will be a very big market for us. I also think we are quite close to cracking cellular backhaul in a large way. The most interesting markets here are probably in Africa, but there are others. I think we are starting to see opportunities in content distribution beyond those four markets. There are a variety of industries where quasi-unicast IP distribution of content starts to look interesting in Ka-band. Whether it is involving mobile networks, digital cinema networks or out of home advertising networks, there are opportunities in moving content around and Ka-band can do this more efficiently than other forms of satellite technology. But mainly we are still pretty focused on those four markets I mentioned earlier."

VIA SATELLITE: What is the long-term vision for Avanti now?

Williams: I really have to take my shareholders with me on this vision. As a public markets company, we have a lot of shareholders who don't have significant prior exposure to satellite companies. Therefore, we need to do the job of communicating the notion that the satellite business can build very significantly to multiple orders of magnitude and have value creation during a long period of years. This is not a business that just becomes an overnight success. Yes, we have one satellite in the sky, and one launching soon, but we have been going at this for 10 years now. I would say in the next 10 years, there is a very good chance that Avanti could deploy at least half a dozen additional satellites. If we do that successfully, there is no reason why Avanti cannot become one of the most significant public companies in London.

I saw this posted on another board today. Seems spot on on here too!

"It's funny how the aggressive derampers suddenly appear on a day when AVN has gone up almost 4% (Actually, it's almost 5%). Clearly the immoral types who are paid to help their clients short AVN by spreading rubbish about the company are getting nervous, as they well should be!"

What are you on about Yorgi, what exactly have i twisted?
There was me thinking we were having a good discussion. If posting patronising comments makes you feel better about avoiding these questions/discussions about your investment then so be it.

Gorvachof,

I will post this again for you to read again, slowly and see if you can take it all in and that is the reasons I am invested here and I'm sure why the others who are invested here also.

Gorvachof,

The reason I dismiss mobile broadband is just does not have the coverage. Yes if in city centres and other built up areas 3G is fine and works well but in remote areas there are plenty where there is simply no 3G and I don't see 4G being any different for a long time to come. I'm sure you know as well as I do that the problems the mob companies have trying to have a mast erected so as I say this technology is not going to fill the bill. Price is always a consideration but price does not come into it if their is no service.

I have been travelling around a lot away from London and other built up areas over the last year and have found that the 3G network is sadly lacking. I had previously been impressed but this was often in built up areas, in London and around area where one would expect the mobile networks to be strong and they are. Of course this is not where AVN is looking to sell their service.

As for CRT that is definitely not going to threaten the satellite technology.

So as I say AVN's only competition is from other satellite service providers and that does not concern me.

I have looked into this carefully and there is just not the competition out there other than other satellite services otherwise I would not have been buying more AVN recently.

Gorvachof,

I find that hard to believe but if you are keep watching. From your last post all you did was take each point I made and just twist it to suit your negative argument that you have had all along. You are free to express that but I'm afraid I don't believe you have an open mind to the technology and hence it is preventing you from seeing the clear potential of AVN.

Martin you have a problem with that article being 5 months old? A bit out of date for you is it? I was merely replying to comments made by others....after all this is a discussion board isnt it?

Yorgi, nothing wrong with a bit countering discussion is there? My reasons are to better understand the Avanti business model.

Can only see this rising with a general market improvement as the company comes up to issuing its results/ As stated before absolutely nothing has changed with the company's business model. The directors are aware of where the company is headed and as such, have been buying shares.
