The share price has broken up out of the Little Wedge to resistance at 5378. This is the fourth occasion it has been resisted at this level. It has also filled the gap at 5278.

Good day Mr bThanks, those pesky gaps.US retail sales down 0.8% v 0.1% forecast.US jobless claims 212k v 220k forecast.Perhaps Mr P is suffering from the same alleged problems that Mr Bailey is experiencing - the latter has now blamed poor jobs data for the BoE forecasting errors!. A bad workman always blames his tools leaps to the forefront of my mind!....numpty.Have a good day.

It will be interesting to see if the US data today confirms the US inflation data or not. In the meantime the UK enters a 'technical recession' but no rate cuts until inflation is at 2%....isn't it?

AHT share price remains within the horizontal range and remains within the small wedge. I have added two gaps at 5170 and 5278.

Good evening Mr bMeant to post yesterday to thank you for your pretty chart yesterday :)Who'd have thought the US inflation was hotter and the UK was cooler than forecasts. Would still put money on the US cutting before the UK......but Bailey will simply follow anyway, probably the day after! lol

Hi PerfidoThey seem to be there now, I'm assuming on the back of your query?.I've noticed for some time my RNS email alerts have not been working but I also use ResearchTree as my back up (lots of other sites offer similar notifications).

With further research, I have found that other than buybacks, the following RNS is also missing:

I tried phoning ADVFN support, but got 'there is nobody available to take your call' message.

Although the AHT daily share buyback operation continues, the usual RNS messages are not appearing in the ADVFN News section of this board.

Is this a cunning plan to avoid agitating the 'anti-buyback' lobby ?

Afternoon perfido the div has always shown first thing but the way things are with aberdeen who now own II cynical me thinks they are hanging onto the money for as long as possible.Just checked and it's finally gone in!.

Good evening Mr bPsychic- sorry meant I was going to ask you about S&P500 TA, then you posted about it.Think it's always going to look overdone and then keep going up. The ETF is for my longer term fund type PF so may just bite the bullet. Interest rates will be cut its whether that's already priced in - which is the billion dollar question.

Psychic? No. Barring a major market negative event it was always going to go for it. The US market likes such psychological milestones.

What next? My understanding is that the options market is not currently biased above 5000 so likely to be a pause.

From previous experience when such milestones are attained the index will either power through and then retrace to test the milestone or will consolidate to decide whether to move up or retrace to a previous support zone; yesterdays closing price appears to be a possible support zone.

Is the US market overstretched? Probably but when you think it can't go any higher it can and when you think it can't go any lower it can.

Bloomberg already estimating an $11bn clean up cost for the storms in California.
Was that one budgeted for ?
