"In litigation, the usual position in relation to costs is that the unsuccessful party will be ordered to pay the successful party’s recoverable costs. Such costs may be substantial, especially when dealing with cases involving a foreign element which gives rise to additional costs, eg travel, expert evidence on foreign law, etc. While a defendant may be confident of their ability to defend the claim, they may nevertheless have concerns about potential difficulties in recovering costs that are provided for in any costs order against the claimant. The purpose of a security for costs order, which is an interim remedy, is to alleviate that concern by requiring the claimant to pay money into court, or to provide some other form of security, as a precondition to being able to continue with the claim. Where an order for security for costs is made, the proceedings will often be stayed, pending payment or provision of security"

razor- it is not what you should do in Slovenia it is what you can do "because of who you know", Governance is for outside of Slovenia, If you are in Slovenia the rules do not apply. But, Fortunately where we are taking Slovenia for £650M+ the jurisdiction is outside of Slovenia (& the EU) where they have ZERO control. Thankfully!. This whole debacle just explains 100% why the 27 states of the European Union will never be a success as they are unable to follow Government guidance/policies, they will agree to policies but then ignore them..... I am 100% certain we will all be Compensated fairly in time, But for now Back in the bottom draw for a while but just amazed how some supposedly developed world jurisdictions act. SO GLAD THE UK IS OUTSIDE OF THE EU MAFIA.

I wonder why the court agree to a hearing and then make a decision without one. Arbitration Courts should also be informed how part gov owned company goes bust when told to cough up to 8 million.

If we are claiming circa £8m in revenue for the period 2019-2023 if we did take over geo the turnover must be greater than £3m a year, can't seem to find geos balance sheet as behind a paywall.

Can't gloss over the fact last week's news was dreadful but if we take over the Joint Partner's operation we might be getting a really good income stream from ALL of the wells.
Those local companies still need gas !

The only correct decision, But I am surprised given Slovenia's track record. was a shame so many sold thinking everything was lost, expect a big bounce. Keep the faith.
Looks like my buying over for a bit (well dip buying anyway).
Taking over all Geo assets sounds nice!

I am still topping up, I appreciate now a higher risk but so is the potential reward.
It just seems very convenient for Geo to file for insolvency just as they are about to get a big claim to pay, this stinks of the government colluding with Geo, I am sure AST's lawyers will be putting that forward along with the criminal case for the directors. I believe if production had stopped AST would have suspended the shares.

Nothing has stopped the claim against The slovenian government- in fact it is now even more in AST's favour due to the current corruption, might be a wait but already been over 18 months.

No they don't not if they're in the EU. All the Ukrainians did in 2013-14 was to vote for a trading alliance with Russia rather than the EU and next thing they had an orange revolution instigated by cia snipers shooting at civilians at demonstrations instigated by newly created NGO owned media stations.
Slovenians would have noted that even if western media/populace still live in denial over what happened.

Ouch. Unfortunately the problem is Slovenia can stick two fingers up to AST. They have got Russia to do trade with. Eastern block comrades always been the same and corruption is expected when dealing with each other.

Thankfully the Slovenian Government is deeply in the companies involved, so AST will get paid out one way or the other. This will do tremendous damage to Slovenian investor relations if they do not step in before court action.

other than the main claim (£650M+) we have the circa £8m payout by the end of qtr1 which was April so brought forward?, so the current claim of £8m equates to £2m a year (2019-2023 £8m/4) we will now be getting the money from all the wells which could take our £580k per year to circa £2.5m per year if those wells are still producing, none of that is priced in at all IMHO once the actual payout is known we will know the expected future figures, there could be some good surprises to the upside this year starting with the payout award. I am currently adding on dips (not large amounts but enough).
