Sent to me this morning by an American cousin - quoting a local in Texas who apparently knows a few things about finance:-

"Of course, on the surface the US debt impasse is now over, but as usual it's a case of "kicking the can down the road" - yet again. The mamoth debt built up in the US now stands at $31.2 trillion - and press reports from the White House indicate a "deal has been reached". So, okay you'd think they could now borrow say another trillion or two until 2025 (debt deals and recalibration occur on a rolling two year basis), but no. This is a deal reached to actually suspend the debt ceiling, in other words for all the fluffery surrounding the press release wording, the US government via the Fed are now free to borrow exactly what they want for the next two years, precisely until the next US elections.

This frightening scenario brings into focus just how much money $31.2 trillion really is - as we loom in on the magical $40 trilion mark. Why is $40 trillion so important? Because once the cumulative debt reaches that stage, the interest repayments actually exceed the amount borrowed, in other words for every $1 borrowed the eventual interest will be around $1.01. In the big scheme of things one cent does not sound and is not a lot - but multiply that forty thousand million million times and you get the picture.

This impending disaster now means two things. Firstly the Fed will undertake massive money printing again as their constant desire to raise the Fed funds rate to try to kill off inflation leads to a looming recession, which could be categorised as "severe". You will witness the spectre, maybe within less than two years of a fed being forced to then cut rates to ease the recession, but without inflation returning to their supposed target of 2%.

This will then set off a new and unstoppable wave of inflation going forward which will further debase the $ and lead to the debt ceiling being raised yet again. The only answer to all this is to attempt to back what is left of the paper dollar with something of intrinsic value.

And there is only thing.

Gold.

Despite repeated attempts to rein in the gold price by the Fed and the rigged trading by the bullion banks worldwide, this time the economic forces of nature will overwhelm all of them and the true price of gold (and by implication silver) will eventually show through. Don't be surprised to see $3500 gold and $75 silver within the next 18 months"

The biggest change on the new site layout is when you go to "financials", which now includes 4 sections - overview; statements; statistics abd dividends. Clicking on dividends is a much improved layout and also includes relevant info.

In Ariana`s case this has some of the more constructive posts from this message board discussion including two recent posts from backmarker and kao. I wonder who chose these posts, but for info on dividends it certainly streamlines the content cutting out the irrelevant.

If you are seriously into reading up about gold, this one will take up your long weekend.

It's 417 pages. I'm grinding through and at page 58 at the moment, but thought it appropriate to share.

Good weekend to all.

Totally agree Bodgit - bloody awful and useless.

I've e-mailed ADVFN with my complaint about it - suggest if everyone did the same it may prompt a re-think.

Not only is my ADVFN display new, it is awful to look at and for me, far less user friendly than the previous version. Gla with AAU.

Can't resist, maybe a exploration target chart of some sort would at least be viable?! Having targets for mines is clearly impossible.

PP if you had been here long enough you would know Plasybryn has been one of it's longest supporters and was always glass half full before, like a lot of us, it got knocked out of him due to the constant slow grind of this company with 'everything'.
The company do not produce Gantt charts plain and simple because they can never follow them, not even close.
Give it a couple of years and you will be saying the same thing maybe.
Another reason is this company is not run with shareholders at the forefront as it should be but more like a private company to keep it's owner in a good living far away from the coalface, er in my opinion.

I would like to know what is their geological team employed with .... on the per centage basis. over the last quater f.e.

how much for the others - like the JV, Cyprus etc.... and how much for our selfs.

what revenue and what P&L is the geo team making ... for us. are they paid enough by the family or are we having love towards our partners and are working at costs...

etc

I do not get them. JV is more or less on autopilot. Kosovo is already given away... so on auto pilot too as far as i am concerned. Cyprus frozen.

Plasy - I agree. We should be given timelines on the projects under AAU control. And what are they btw - besides leopard. in any meaningful way

I've personally never seen much use for Gantt charts in the sphere of mining, which can be so unpredictable.

I think most investors simply prefer to rely on an RNS to indicate progress and work completed on activites and schedules.

It's been quite a while since we had some positive news so I feel that the sort of RNS we are all looking for may be not that far away.

meanwhile, the average gold price hovers just under $2,000 so bear in mind the cash AAU are raking in with each ounce mined and sold.

Look at the glass here as half-full instead of half-empty.

We could then start to get a handle on timescales for the various important drill programmes ( some of these could after all be Co. makers - Hizzy etc.) milestones for Project Leopard,Milestones for WTR & Venus etc. At the current time who knows any dates at all. Its all so vague. The Co's attitude to shareholders leaves much to be desired and it certainly doesn't give the impression it gives a monkies. You'll have assay results when we are ready and not before.

can they ... they can not do it in a meaningfull way anymore....

JV Gantt is out of their reach. they are just service provider and minority stake holder. all the rest is of lesser importance imho

Don't forget the Co used to produce regular Gantt Charts. It is always difficult to take away something that is helpful to investors. Your reason quoted for not still producing them is from a Co point of view. We are looking at it from an investor perspective. Everyone understands there are reasons milestones are missed sometimes, but not having any in the first instance so the Co can't be held to account is a poor show in my opinion. Shareholders collectively should demand kone is reinstated.
