04/2/2021 11:33 | From share price Angel: Turkey – Sovereign wealth fund shifts focus to energy, petrochemicals and gold mining The CEO of Turkey’s sovereign wealth fund (TWF), Zafer Sonmez, has announced that the fund will begin to focus on areas where Turkey constantly runs a deficit in foreign trade- beginning with projects that will cost $15bn over the next five years. Since Erdogan rose to power nearly 20 years ago, consecutive governments have sold more state assets than at any time since modern turkey was established. Sonmez will report directly to Erdogan, pushing a new agenda of an “entrepreneuri The TWF will ramp up exploration for gold in 20 license areas awarded by the government, with a long term target of increasing gold production to as much as 150tpa from 42tpa currently. The fund will announce construction tenders for a coal-fired power station in south-eastern Turkey, with seven Chinese companies reported as currently studying the project, with the bid-winner financing capital spending. The fund will also choose a “strategic foreign partner” for its petrochemicals project in Iskenderun. | plasybryn
04/2/2021 11:18 | Never thought I’d see this price again with the continued and sustained price in gold / silver The cash just keeps rolling in until the JV is completed News flow is annoying but my view is that there is nothing to say and the announcement will be imminent Volume is low and traders just moving out for better short term opportunities Fundamentals will play out here in another sustained move forward Will continue to accumulate - just added round £10k best I could get was 4.55 Patience will be rewarded | alchemist5
04/2/2021 10:40 | It seems that everyone was waiting Charles lol | shortarm
04/2/2021 10:16 | Interesting read, strengthening my belief of hostile takeover on the not too distant future | cowal
04/2/2021 09:50 | Ah your using the old thread enjoy talking to yourself | lottsgold

04/2/2021 09:34 | You mean you are just leaving exactly the same message as you have said before, lol, moron. | soulsauce
04/2/2021 08:30 | Please sell as many as you like. I will be waiting. | charles clore
04/2/2021 08:22 | This may well bounce on final sign-off, but on the other hand (going by recent performance) it may not. If it does it's got a lot of ground to recover. A lot of ifs and buts from investors recently. I have no doubt at all that AAU should have a bright future. But that does not necessarily mean greater rewards for shareholders. | dixi
04/2/2021 07:56 | Yes and I agree long term, but short term there is too much uncertainty. I've been here for over 5 years, it was the right thing to do to cash in some multi bagging shares up in the 5's and even 6's. I was happy to hold the rest because of exactly what you say but there have been too many delays and too much current uncertainty/lack of clarity for me to stay exposed at the level I was, whatever anyone thinks of AAU and Kerim, this is AIM and I feel it is right to be cautious. I am also not concerned about a massive peak if/when all is announced because its been known for long enough that most interest would already be involved by now and even a 40% jump just gets us back to where we were last year, I therefore don't envisage a scenario where I won't be able to buy back shares under the 6, 5.7, 5.5 etc that I've sold some at, should I want to jump back on the train once the current uncertainty is out of the way. The 4.8 or so from last week will probably be eclipsed on news but I can stomach that for a few. | kirbs4
04/2/2021 07:46 | It all helps :-)Kerim turned 35K into 3.5 million, I'm quite willing to wait and see what he can do with 20 million dollars or so..... | shortarm
04/2/2021 07:45 | As had been said, I think we have to draw solace from the fact we haven't heard anything. No news is good news as they say. With the announcement so imminent they probably don't think it is even necessary to issue a holding RNS.Kerim knows the value is there and that an announcement is very close, so probably can't fully appreciate what we are fretting about. | plasybryn
04/2/2021 07:39 | Those shares have done much better where they sit now thanks, so I was never not happy, just contributing to a good board ;). If it was about emotions though, moving from 13 to 11 months late would only make me about 15% happier. | kirbs4
04/2/2021 07:35 | Actually, wait until JAF has let go and then get some even cheaper! | shortarm
04/2/2021 07:34 | So now you are happy again and you are going to buy back those lovely shares you sold? Right :-) | shortarm
04/2/2021 07:30 | You are right Shortarm, while it was 14 mo this ago they announced it, they did indeed say it would be by end of Feb 2020 (before any lockdown I may add). So "only" 11 months late not 13, my bad. | kirbs4
04/2/2021 07:26 | I think we may have been told it's the company structure that needs finalising in the last proactive interview...they clearly expect it anytime or we would have an update in my opinion..frustrating for the BOD as well as us I'm sure. Realistically the Government sign off was the only thing that was going to scupper the deal and I believe the solicitors will be done in the very near term or we would already know there's an issue. | lottsgold
04/2/2021 07:23 | Mr Meldrew, all you do is complain lately! Man up and vote with your feet, the pessimism won’t be missed! I think the average age here means people are sat at home or down the golf club thinking about their shares all day - I’m just working and waiting. | shortarm
04/2/2021 07:03 | Please get it right. People like me are not complaining that it has taken so long - we are complaining that we haven't been informed of the reasons for the current delay. And it looks like we're not going to be told today either.... | jaf1948
04/2/2021 05:59 | Spot on, Short. But it is rather trying on people's patience, not least as so many alternative investments in the sector have seen so much positive activity. That said, the recent negativity expressed on this board doesn't help the wait... | linz22
04/2/2021 05:13 | When you say 13 months late....? It's not 13 months late unless you expected it to be completed the same day as they announced it!??It's taken 13 months. It's taken 13 months in an unprecedented global pandemic!! I for one remain of the opinion that this is about to be an excellent example of the stock market moving wealth from the impatient to the patient! | shortarm
03/2/2021 22:31 | Same here Kirbs4, retaining enough to make this worthwhile for me (hopefully). But now more within my comfort-zone. | dixi
03/2/2021 20:02 | I hope there is news too as I remain invested to a lesser extent, and genuinely hope for the best for all the LTH's that engage regularly here. I know I can sound negative about all this but I am trying to be realistic. If there is no news tomorrow I would have to consider taking more off the table. AAU don't release news on Fridays so that will be another week, and I would start reading more into the throw away interview comment about the remaining structural issue myself. | kirbs4 |
