The number of shares a little over over 10 years has actually grown 900%. If anyone’s looking for an answer to the head-scratching share price chart, you need go no further than that figure. I’m not saying they had any other choice. It simply is what it is.

It just means that those who loaded up following ‘shares’ magazines ‘strong buy’ review at 12p ten years ago get the picture now regarding the world of nano-caps. :o/

nwb a simple question but a more difficult answer.
The company have needed money to explore for gold since the company listed until it became self sufficient from production, which was satisfied by the issue of shares.
Because of successive raisings at ever lower prices and some dubious choices for broker in the latter years the number of shares ramped up quickly.

Hopefully that is all behind us along with poor decisions and there should be no need issue any more shares.

However the amount of shares issued and the choices made still weighs heavy here and I firmly believe this is one of the reasons we are valued as we are.

I am new to AAU and have a small holding.
The number of shares in issue has doubled over the last 5 years in steady increments - can someone help me understand this ?

Every gold miner in my portfolio or watchlist has increased by between 2-4% today - apart from AAU. Something ain't right here.

Gold doing exactly as it should today. Looking for a high above $1532.
The 0.618 re-trace comes in at $1536.

Backmarker.....if you think AAU
is in wave 5(iii).....you are actually saying that it's nearly all over for the stock !

You could get a broker to sell them and buy them back within your isa at the same price and time. They can also choose best time in day I.e. the lowest point thus reducing potential gain on sale.

Thanks for the replies. I suspect Jaynesdad is near the mark with the premise that AIM listed companies "MAY" be IHT exempt, but that the executors have to apply to HMRC before confirmation is available. Additionally I seem to recall that any AIM company should not be listed on any other exchange, also possibility of overseas companies not applicable-not sure how that defined so may apply to AAU. Which all makes it a bit of a wet finger in the air exercise.

Correct Paul. CGT disappears at death, the whole of the estate (with a few complex exceptions surrounding Pensions and business assets etc.) falls into IHT. ISA is outside CGT while living, it is not outside IHT so ISA funds form part of a persons estate.

This is a very morbid subject but it happens to us all except the "know it all' who is is immortal I suspect.
I was under the impression that CGT liability disappears on death replaced with Capital Transfer Tax (Death Duties) so the ISA question is not relevant. But i could be wrong.

One other issue regarding ISA's and changing status from being alive to not being alive. When my dad was terminal over 5 years ago I read an article that stated the tax free status of the ISA ends on death. I had been looking after his trading account for years and sold before it happened. So it was a not an issue to verify with a solicitor. This was before an ISA was transferable to ones spouse after the not alive inconvenience. Worth checking out though.

Does raise the point that your executor should be made aware of any AIM holdings and information about the length of time those holdings have been held. Morbid conversation perhaps, but an important subject

Thanksamillion, IHT exemption is a difficult question. Essentially it has to be a trading company (ie not passive investment) and quoted only on AIM. Trouble is that there isn't a list and it is only established if it qualifies when somebody goes to the trouble of pegging it and the relatives make an application. You also have to hold the shares for 2 years before your final breath

JD - well done making moves to get them into an ISA. That will pay off handsomely imho.

Out of interest I just worked it out. I made £19 selling 500k from my non ISA than re buying into my ISA a few days later. Of course the share price had declined by over 5% in that time, so £19 says a lot about the bid /offer spread. I reckon I can have a starter and main course, one pint of Cobra and a single poppadum. May or may not be able to have a coffee. I'll let you all know

Myself also Charles. Managed to shift 500k into my ISA at zero cost (in fact made enough for a decent curry) and would like to shift another 500k. Then I'm done and would like some northwards share price action!!

I have topped up as much as I can and am very pleased with the share price performance this year. With PMs seemingly on the cusp of a bull market, if the share price continues to perform on the current vector it will mean that by Christmas I will have a higher value percentage of AAU in my portfolio than everything else combined. Not sure what to do when that happens but may topslice a little, say 10%.

Where will that take us to in your view and roughly over what time frame. Don't suppose you can provide a link to the chart. We should be just starting our re-rate, so not sure about wave 5. Buying now ahead of 6 months Interims next week perhaps. I'm very optimistic about our performance in Q4.

AAU now started wave 5(iii) up.

Gold consolidation still in progress.
The move from $1490 back over $1500 now opens the door to a move higher above $1532.....prior to a likely price breakdown.

Nope Mcmather, 2 of them early on were mine into my ISA, to replace some sold at a very slightly price in my non ISA a/c last week (or the week before, cant remember)
