Biggles,

I take your point and agree that value should be forward-looking. However, based on what has happened in the last year, or possibly what has not happened, I find it difficult to believe that the company's modus operandi will change significantly in the next year or so to give us that hoped-for improvement in value.

I was and still am a fan of the JV and I think it will eventually be of great benefit to both parties. But I am not now seeing excellent value here in the short term.

JAF a little confused. To me value equates to potential for return in the future. How does the historic loss made over the last 12 months which isn't as much as many miner detract from future value? My average purchase price is significantly lower than today's share price but that in no way impacts on current value. Am I missing something in your post? ?

Corrientes - I understand you have sold down all your holding in AAU? If so do you mind sharing what you invested into? Was it a Gold miner again or something different? Just interested to know what you felt had better value than AAU.

In terms of "value", todays dip makes them better value than they were yesterday...all other things staying equal.

As long as they they keep going down they will continue offering better and better value to a buyer and less and less value to a seller.

All in my upside down world that is.

Happy days. ;-))

Biggles,

On what basis are these excellent value ? A year ago today, the share price was 5.3p which means it has fallen around 15% in that time. Even if you add back in the 0.35p dividend expected next month, none of us who have held for more than a year have made any money here in that time.

No doubt over a long enough time scale, these shares could be excellent value but they aren't at the moment.

Think you are right BB, feels like one of those days where the price is walked down only to turn back up late in the day.

But we shall see.

Is tomorrow going to be a big one? As promised, a new expanded presentation with perhaps more meat on the new strategy. Hopefully solid information on all the assets, progress and expected timescales. And perhaps they have left news of the dividend dates to tomorrow as well.
Wow betide them if there are any further delays on the dividend front. That won't go down well. Hopefully that will allow Panmure Gordon to issue a new Broker's Report as well.

Ariana – Yet More Drilling Results, Now From Arzu South: BUY

2021-08-17 08:29:10

Another day, another set of very promising drilling results from Gold and Silver miner in Turkey, Ariana Resources (AAU). This time it relates to Arzu South, the highest grade pit around the Kiziltepe processing plant, which was mined to depletion until the company started digging even lower only to find more gold. This is very good news.

A strange price reaction to a positive RNS this morning. I wonder - could it have anything to do with the long awaited dividend date (or lack of)?

looks too me as if they are proving it up as the new mill we be munching through the ore at pace so need the mine life. Currently around 220,000oz so if they can boost the output to say 30,000oz per year they only needed to add 80,000oz which they have easily done. The figures when the higher grade ore and ball mill are running smoothly will change our finances massively.I am though upset we aren't drilling in Tavsan for now but it does make sense.

A good few years ago I was invested in EMED (copper miner) I remember some of the more knowledgeable posters on that board saying that institutional investors generally looked for mining investments with a 10 year plus mine life. Anyone here able to debunk or confirm this idea?
