Excellent news demonstrating ARB own strength and capabilities. With their rapid expansion ARB is now very confident it is able to go it alone avoiding any dilution.
A show of confidence and a strong hold for the medium to long term.
While ARB follows Bitcoin trend - which is now starting to strengthen due to economic slowdown - , its additional mining capabilities will add more value; this shows that ARB is in a win/win situation. Crypto currencies are now becoming a safer "crypto gold" to hold in times of uncertainty and recession.
From Precious Metals to "Precious Crypto". This is the future.

Excellent news today, which sends a strong message in my view.

ARGO going it alone without the dilution of a HIVE tie up.

Onwards and upwards.....

:-))

Just for knowledge sake when the bond yield curve inverts its a buy signal for stocks with a median return if 15% so it a buy signal. Remember the inversion to recession takes around 18 months. Also just because the yield curve inverts does not necessarily mean recession as has happened twice in the last 50 years.keep an eye on the PMI indicator, anything number below 50 is bad and will lead to a sell off in the stock market

I'm not providing a link but if you search YouTube (what happens to bitcoin in a recession) authored by pensioncraft its interesting and should be taken on board. Luckily Argo are a minor so there are some advantages as having argo as an investment for the long term

People don't trust central banks. Money is being devalued, this process has been happening for centuries. Governments have too much debt and will print more in the future infinitely and beyond. Some people love gold but it's not a payment system. Not all ETFs are backed by gold so can go bust. BTC is being adopted as a payment system by companies and some forward thinking government have accepted payment for their citizen for labour. It's all about adoption. Most governments hate BTC as they will have less control over their citizens. I think blockchain will be adopted by all governments soon 10 OR 20 years. Stops tax evasion and easy to get to your money if they need to but this form of blockchain will be centralized. BTC is decentralised

Hootza, mining fees complicate that question.
Bitcoins are issued as rewards (and are subject to havening), but the person making the transaction also pays a transaction fee to the miner.
If you want your transaction processing faster, voluntarily attach a high fee to get it prioritized.

So if the network still exists in 100 years, yes rewards will be low, but fees may compensate ( and £1m per coin is not unreasonable in that time)

As for Beanie Babies... We're seeing the adoption of a distributed, immutable ledger, that has potential to reinvent the banking industry. A slightly stronger use case than a stuffed toy

A new world order in reserve currency and foreign exchange. Possibly the most important paradigm shift in the global economy since the inception of the telegraph and it gets compared to fashion items and beanie babies. Only on ADVFN :)

I think that's correct, H.
However, the price of any commodity is not solely dependent on its rarity or its difficulty in being discovered.
There is also its fashionability, its cost of production AND its usefulness.
For instance TY Beanie Babies commanded huge prices fifteen years ago. Then, for some strange reason, their fashionability fell off a cliff (despite their still being useful for amusing wayward thirteen year-old girls) and prices plummeted. Strangely their value is recently rising again.
You may think this is a trivial example. You'd be wrong. Bitcoin is in exactly the same bracket. It's value is little to do with its usefulness (low), its hardness to find (high) or its cost of production (high). The main driver of its value, as with Beanie Babies, is fashion. How long this lasts is most difficult to know and could be a year or three, or much less. I reckon it will see $20k again. Good luck.

Yes correct but this will not happen overnight. Miners stop mining when BTC increase value, miners who can't compete stop mining. The edge is to have good machines and cheap electric

So it will be twice as hard and I assume twice as costly in power to mine a coin after the halvening?
hootza616

The harder it gets the more power is needed. The last bitcoins will take over 100 times more power to mine than today, so the value has to be 100x more to make it worth while.Does anyone know the break even point of Argo mining coins after the upcoming halving.

Hootza, it's because newly created bitcoins are paid as reward to miners.
The reward halves roughly every 4 years.

Its known as "the halvening"

Good luck with BTC. It will go up and its oversold here. Me personally id go in small as it could still take a trip down before heading north. I would add once it closed over the wedge - complete candle body and tail if there is one

Anyone know why it will take another 122 years to mine the remaining 4 million coins when it has taken just 13 years to mine the 17 million in circulation?

Interesting article. I am curious to know if ARB can keep "excess" bitcoins it mined if its revenues are above market expectation. Can they lock them in as a "reserve" ? This could affect even the number of available "free" bictcoins in the market, leading to shortage and thus higher market price. Any idea on this ?

Soupdragon - In this case they have positioned themselves well in advance. A very astute move ! Then with twice the number of machines running in the next quarters, if they manage to mine just the same number as this year - with twice the price - as it halves next, that could be the cherry on the cake. Basically they have the potential to double/quadruple their cash.

Fuji, remember the increase is to offset the Bitcoin halving next year.

One remark regarding the bitcoin restricted number. The less bitcoins are available the more its value will increase. so ARB will be in a win/win situation. Say 200 units at $10k will be equivalent to 100 units at $20k. So for ARB everything is balancing nicely itself. Then once all the new machines are running, they will significantly boost revenue. The pile of cash that will be generated in the next few years will be huge ! All this with a very high margin - thus higher profit.
I think once this gem is fully discovered by institutions and more PI's, it will fly with no return. We are probably witnessing the inception of something big on here. Positioning oneself now is a must.
