Here's a link that explains the Lifetime Allowance on pension plans.

As an IFA, please note that this does not constitute financial advice.

Imagine you had $250k in a SIPP and had put it in ARB at 4p.6.25M shares x $1.17p.$7.3M

Yes you got lucky. It's practically impossible to do now unless you have a life threatening illness.

Hootza

I managed to transfer mine out using an IFA, but it cost circa 1.5% of my pot from memory.

Will look out the name of the guy later. You have to transfer it into a fund he recommends but can then transfer to your own SIPP after a “reasonable217; period

Well yes, if you are lucky enough to have over 1m in your SIPP then it's a nice problem to have!

Takeover talk yesterday...

I can’t see a good reason for another miner to takeover Argo, rather Arb should do a reverse takeover of a ‘bigger’ N American miner in order to leverage their superior efficiencies/margins etc.

Hopefully both parties would see share price rises, Arb greater than the target.

I appreciate money talks and this view may seem a little naive.

I'd rather not say but i managed to get my pension transferred after a real struggle and the cost was under $1k. Colleagues at work (although i had left) asked if i could help them do the same(some with 30yrs service FS/AVC)..Quotes to transfer had risen to $3k plus with a different level of financial advisor required and few companies would do it out of fear of pension PPI type claims. .Im not sure who will do it now if any. I just got lucky

Also don't forget CGT IS LIKELY TO rise to 40pct in this budget so Aim stks are likely to be weak in March and also April if this tax does rise Aim stks tend to be weak in March anyway

It grows tax free but if you withdraw any money over you LTA you are taxed at 55pct It's penal and annoying for me as I have a lot of XBT in my Sipp

Ok but when you hit the life time limit it's 55% on everything I'm sure.
