Thank you everyone for your input.

Brasso3 - I have £50,000 to invest in here, but didn't say all in go! Will start to invest though come Monday.

If early enough should be able to put in a decent sized chunk around 15p I reckon, but thank you anyway.

SSB, please remind us why your not invested in ARB as well as or instead of BTC? Seems your the only one that doesn't see ARB outperforming BTC or recognise the obvious tax benefits? The only risk I see other than the BTC price is the ARB management screwing something up.Is there something that worries you about the management?

Anyone else seen the three bearish soldier pattern on the btc monthly chart?January could be a scary month here, if the previous patterns play out.

If BTC retains $24k I think you may struggle, but good luck.

A few hours ago you were going to invest on a monthly basis. Now you are going all in on Monday!

Thank you Hootza.

I note the volatility in BTC, and ARB to an extent, and am planning to make regular investments in ARB either on a monthly basis or when there is a sharp pullback in the price of BTC as I see it is correlated to it more or less.

Thank you everybody for your input and information this evening, it is very much appreciated.

I have approximately £50,000 to invest, which I shall be putting in come Monday. By my amateur reckoning, I'm hoping I can put that amount into ARB at around 15p

I think most people in the UK who buy crypto do not seem to be aware that is is subject to CGT.

If you believe BTC is going to go up over the next 12 months then ARB should outperform BTC by approx 3 to 1 given likely margins due to gearing. So for instance if BTC gets to 100k by Dec 2021 and you bought today @24k you looking at roughly a 4 bagger. I believe that if BTC is 100k in Dec 21, ARB will be around £2. Plus ARB hugely more tax efficient

There are some clear benefits for holding ARB over BTC:-

1) Leveraged to BTC price
2) Increasing mining capacity
3) CGT exempt in an ISA/ SIPP
4) Intrinsic value in the mining facility
5) Potential dual listing (eg TSX)

crypto nugget,
ARB SHOULD be positively geared to the price of BTC...but might not be.
The reason is that the price of ARB should reflect the profitability of ARB as a company and ARB's profitability should increase faster than the rise in BTC due to the fact that ARB's fixed costs should not rise as fast as it's BTC revenue.
That's the theory, but reality may prove to be different.
As someone said, the other reason ARB has a potential benefit is that gains can be tax free.

You buy ARB for the same reason that you buy a gold mining company instead of buying bullion :)

Just buy BTC at market and hold off exchange - it is not rocket science.

I would be in for the longer term in any case, around 5 years or so.

Thanks for your views.

Best thing to do is toss a coin! Most people are in ARB because it's the only bitcoin play available in tax free ISA and SIPP.If you like BTC as a concept and can cope with the big ups and downs this is for you, especially if you can afford to wait a year before cashing in.

Good evening.

I am new here, and new to ADVFN, having joined only today. I have a keen interest in cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, ethereum and ripple, but hadn't realised until it was pointed out to me a few days ago about ARB, who actually mine bitcoin.

Whilst I don't own either BTC nor ARB yet I have been reading the thread today with interest.

I notice that someone has posted that ARB is a "geared play" on BTC. Is anybody here able to tell me approximately what gearing there is?

I intend to invest here soon, but as a rather cautious investor just want to see that BTC can properly stabilise at these current higher levels.

Many thanks, and any information would be very welcome and appreciated.
