22/8/2003 14:40 | tonyleongson - just glanced at the IC articles on ARM you mentioned - in case of any relevance. Picked out this which may/may not be some intended hint: "..what they (ARM bosses) do see is another round of takeovers. ARM would rather be predator than prey.." | m.t.glass

22/8/2003 14:25 | From their website: Selected Customers ARC International provides integrated IP, peripherals, software and development tools, so it's customers can reduce the number of IP vendors with whom they work. This in turn reduces the development time, risk and time to market. ARC's technology is proven across a broad spectrum of market segments including the consumer electronics, broadband, wireless and network markets. Within these markets our customers are developing a wide range of different products such as digital still cameras, DVD players, network processors, storage area network devices, and other consumer devices. 22/8/2003 14:25 | Exactly my point max22. Don't get me wrong - I bought some more ARK this morning at 22p just beofre this rally - so I want them to go up. I just don't believe all this talk that the rise is due to leaked info about a bid. | ![]() kiwihope
22/8/2003 14:25 | The sudden onset of volume around 1130 is unlikely to support the fact that all of a sudden everybody realised ARK was undervalued though undoubtedly the sector has had a recent shot in the arm so to speak!! Many times activity like this precedes the issuing of an RNS (not necessarily a good one but some kind of significant news which people are gambling will be good!) or a rumour amongst the dealers has broken that with the industry perhaps recovering, CASH + a decent product may be worth acquiring! Additionally ARK is a very tightly held stock: Fistral Trustees Ltd 19.31818 27-02-2003 AXA Investment Managers UK Ltd 18.97915 28-05-2003 J E San OBE 17.14529 29-05-2003 RISC Capital BV 15.45479 27-02-2003 Richard Farleigh 7.16342 27-02-2003 JO Hambro Capital Management Ltd 5.24153 19-06-2003 Mourant & Company Trustees Limited 4.1877 02-06-2003 so any news/rumour induced movement is likely to be sharp and sudden UP - or down again if nothing materialises!! | avatar o8o

22/8/2003 14:14 | look at the intraday chart, see how it spikes suddenly...something is up | pictureframe
22/8/2003 14:14 | Pictureframe, I still think this looks more like a sentiment thing. The rally is too widespread across too many companies - ARM, ARK, Filtronics, IQE, CKSN, etc. The IT sector as a whole is up over 6% today. On a snapshot view this looks a bit overdone and I would be cautious about profit-taking. | ![]() kiwihope
22/8/2003 14:10 | extract from july RNS "Looking ahead, the company remains confident thanks to a strong pipeline. Gulett said the company is on track to introduce a significant number of products across the processor, peripheral and software business units in the third quarter. "We also had our highest quarter for royalty payments which accounted for 16 pct of the revenue base and we expect royalty income growth to continue," he added. As a result of the prolonged SARs epidemic, the company did not reach its projected growth in Asia. But the region contributed a 10 pct increase in overall turnover stream, up to 10 pct of turnover from the 8 pct reported in Q1 2003, it said. And following the share buyback in May 2003, in which the company purchased 162,413,705 shares at a strike price of 29 pence, it said it is in a strong position with 44.9 mln stg in cash remaining." | tonyleongson
22/8/2003 14:08 | get ready ;0) | pictureframe
22/8/2003 14:08 | Undervalued...! It appears to have a cash pile close to 31p a share. Any objective views on potential downside would be appreciated. cfol | cfol
22/8/2003 14:07 | Not sure about sentiment, volume is massive which points to more that a correction. Cant be many more buys at this price before is goes up again | pictureframe |
