It's a real rollercoaster ride today spyderman ;-)

However, look at the MM Quotes versus closing yesterday & you will note we have only 2 MM's on Offer versus 3 @ EOD Wednesday - ETRA opened 0.5p up. All others unchanged AFAIK, still 6 on the Bid.

It's dead today but at least the selling appears to have dried up. Large spread because of low volume perhaps, this discourages trading. What we need is one piece of +ve news, to state the obvious. Still, at least ARK isn't down along with the techMARK post-FOMC.

hey good to see some life in ARK again :-)
Gave up on this BB & even deleted some posts coz it was a ghost town in here.

Like you guys I fail to see how this can go lower, yet it does with alarming regularity. Hoping those deferrals have been signed successfully this Q, & the SARS excuse for Asian expansion is no longer viable IMHO.

Problem as I see it is that a lot of large players exited after the Tender Offer, seeing as ARK's cash reserve is now halved. Yet ARK still have cash aplenty, & with half the shares the free float diminishes and earnings per share must increase. Market cap halved yet earnings remain unchanged (we hope).

ARK has vanished from the radar of most traders due to it being rangebound, whilst focus is on IMG etc. With it's huge discount to cash to underpin any tech slumps, it's safer than most chip plays. Just gotta wait for the herd to wise up ;-)

Management will have noted the failure of the buyback to boost the shareprice & should be under pressure to deliver in the near term.

Investtech update:

' Watch candidate (13 Jun 2003) [Auto]
Has fallen 61% since the peak on 16 Nov 2001 at 62.50. Has broken through the floor of a rising trend channel. This indicates a slower rising rate at first, or the start of a more horizontal development. Has reacted back after a false break of a rectangle formation. A significant penetration of 23.90 will again give new negative signals to the stock, while a break of the opposite side of the formation will be a strong positive signal. The stock has marginally broken up through the resistance at p 24.00. An established break predicts a further rise.'

Michigan below expectations, INTC downgrade on valuation, not too positive for ARK today - yet we seem to be holding up well. SOX looks very weak & has all of this week, just broken to the downside of recent 10-point range, will it bounce?

ARK should be underpinned by cash levels even if the NAS plops.

Yeehah IT LIVES! 50K MM Buy on small volume :-)

KBCS now flipped from Offer to Bid.

Update: 24p Resistance broken & RSI is moving Up.

Investtech comment:

'Negative candidate (12 Jun 2003) [Auto]
Has fallen 62% since the peak on 16 Nov 2001 at 62.50. Has broken the floor of the rising trend, which indicates a weaker initial rising rate. Gave a negative signal from a rectangle formation by the break down through the support at 23.90. Further fall to 20.61 or lower is signaled. RSI is, however, oversold. The stock can still fall further, and we should see an increasing RSI before this is used as a positive signal. The stock is testing the resistance at p 24.00. This should give a negative reaction, but an upward breakthough of p 24.00 means a positive signal.'

Small crumb of comfort for ARK holders - KBCS have moved up off the Offer. Still 2 MM's left on 24 though.

As I type WINS have upped the Bid by 0.25. JEFF moved up earlier too.

Very low volume so far, so this level of MM activity is welcome. Overhang clearing perhaps.

Underperformance of ARK is the past 3 months is staggering. Pull up a chart & compare it to IMG say, if you're really masochistic add FIB in too!

Yes, that's my impression as well. There has been some stock dumped, although the real problem is the 'eternal' collusion between the MMs...make no mistake...even though this is illegal under FSA regs ( Guffaw! ) it has been going on for months.

I have been trading this share since it floated and the manipulation is all to clear to the trained eye. Just look at the chart & compare it to the buy & sell volume....Then look at the recent ( smallish ) rally and then look at the terms of the 'Tender Offer' to understand the small upwards movement and the necessary manipulation to achieve the required terms for executing the offer.

Part of the general problem is the large amount of MMs V the...now...poor volumes on ARK. There isn't enough business for so many MMs, there is constant manipulation so they can all get a slice of the small pie.

To all the ARK MMs out there:

'Don't p*ss down my back & tell me it's raining!'

Cheers nuromancer.Maestro, there might be a lot a buys but theres also someone dumping a lot of stock. The amount of anouncements of people no longer having an interest, theres no wonder it`s dropped back.they`ll finish selling at some point. Can remember the same happening to IMG at about18p.We`ll just have to wait.

beeny, looking @ ADVFN Quote gives current market cap for ARK of 33.98M. Going back to the most recent Results for Q1 issued April 23rd shows Net Assets of £111M including Cash of £96.5M - 'The movement in net funds during the quarter was an outflow of £4.4 million.' The Tender Offer was oversubscribed as only £48.5M was available for the Buyback, see the RNS of May 24.

Thus we should have cash of ~£96.5 - 48.5 - ~3 = £45M. Compare this to market cap & calculate how much the market values the ARK business at.

Further, the free float of shares will be reduced. 162M shares were purchased for cancellation, leaving just 143M in issue.

HTH

The nice thing about ARK is that, whatever the SOX is doing, the cash helps to underpin the price. ARK will have it's day, but you might have to be patient.

Also, I think there might be a small stock overhang, but I can't be sure.

mad4IT, yes sorry about the link, could you tell me how to edit the HTML please?

US SOX index has taken a beating of late - SIA report, valuation downgrades, earnings -, if it can bounce today there is some hope.

I note that online Buy size via comdirect has dropped markedly, was 250K now ~50K only.

Yeah, but only one mm has moved up to the offer, the other 2 MMs on 24p are unchanged.

The MMs on ARK are some of the nastiest around for 'fun & games 'with the share price. IMHO many of them are in collusion to manipulate the price and have been for a long, long time.

Nevertheless, this is sitting at a, ridiculous, 50% discount to cash, with low cash burn and therefore looks an excellent buy again at these levels.

...so I've started to accumulate again.

p.s. can you shorten that link please nurOmancer, it's stretching the thread.
