How do you know that those write downs will reverse?

Any mining investments in a market downturn have every chance of further deteriorating.

From what I can see , this is the first time in 12 or 13 years ( only checked back to year 2000) that the interim dividend has not been increased. The end to a hitherto good track-record.

If the Total Equity of the company has fallen by £51million or roughly 17%, on a discount-to-NAV basis , it is a possibility that the share price may in due course follow.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Notice they maintained a level of spending on the Canadian Coal @£900,000.
Still alive & kicking, & the infrastructure getting nearer.

Those write downs will reverse one day soon as the mkt picks up.

everything is factored in the price, fallen from 300p which now should improve as the production at Soth Kestrel is expanded by Rio Tinto.

I see the price will improve to 250-260p

The investments portfolio finally taking that big hit.

Total Equity (June 30th 13) of £ 248.7million versus (Dec 31st 12 ) of £300.1million.

FIFTY ONE MILLION POUNDS SLASHED FROM THE TOTAL EQUITY FIGURE of the COMPANY IN JUST SIX MONTHS.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Dividend is maintained at 4.45p

About the only real positive statement in an otherwise fairly grim report that gives little to be excited about.

Since a number of the key members of the executive are accountants it's possible they just don't have all the info they need for reporting, bearing in mind they have to round up data from their various sources before they can complete the accounts.

Against my better judgement I called APF. As expected I spoke to someone that did not know the answer. However, they did say that there would be an announcement to the market later today to tell us when the results are going to come out!

Quite why they just couldn't give me the date I do not know. So standby for something this pm!

Noslien,

I posted in reply to FABIUS1 who (post 6320) could not see a phone number on the website.
I quite agree with you, they should respond to email.

No. I have emailed twice; once using their online form and second time directly to the company secretary. Frankly, not very impressed.

I have not phoned, I don't think it is unreasonable for the company to respond to emails also more convenient for me to email. It would be nice if they replied.

It is odd they have not published a date for interims. Standard practice in my book. I notice they have revamped their site and I could no longer find a contact telephone number. Maybe they have ditched the old ways and gone all email. I have always found them to be very accessible and I have never had a problem speaking with them on the odd occasion. In fact I spoke with Chris Orchard a couple of weeks go regarding several concerns, in particular, the problems and heavy royalty weighting re Kestrel. It is my understanding they are looking at widening the net, opportunities permitting.

Gavapentin,
Strictly speaking, details such as the precise date for release of results should be construed as price sensitive/priviliged info.
It would be unusual for any corporate to release that info to any individual selectively and it is info that generally has to be eleased to everyone/the market simultaneously.
It remains curious for me that the expected results' date has not yet been publically announced given that in the last two years they had been released earlier in August than now.

Many a smaller company than APF would have a precise Financial Calendar for advance dates of releasing something as important as interims.
