The shortage of stock would explain why I had to pay a little above the LSE ASK mid-morning for 3000 shares. Roll on tomorrow.

Hard to know which will have paid off for us in the long term:
Investment in:
The assets, the CDN coal sleeper.
Or.
The quality of the BOD.

Either would have been a reason to stay, long term, but the combination of both these factors & the debt free frugal nature of this div paying company always made this a long term hold.

Cheers Q.P good find.

This is going nicely for my recent purchase at just under 200p.

I will be happy with 250p and then I will be off.

If anyone knows about Canadian coal , it is the new CEO, Julian Treger who was involved in Cambrian Mining plc in 2009 being bought out by Western Canadian Coal Corp. Treger's Audley Capital European Master Fund owned about 25% of Cambrian.

In 2010, Walter Energy Inc subsequently bought out Western Canadian Coal Corp for C$3.3billion. Who owned a near 20% in Western Canadian Coal? Julian Treger's Audley Capital European Master Fund.

Who was strongly agitating this year for significant Board changes at Walter Energy which owns large Canadian Coal interests in British Columbia? Julian Treger, Managing partner at Audley capital advisors.

It seems to me that Haydock, Piedro, Gavapentin and others will finally have their day on the valuations of APF's Canadian Coal Interests on the Trefi Coal Project and Panorama Coal Project in British Columbia. This should in time be a tremendous boost for APF.

For those with a half-hour to spare this is a recording of Mr. Treger impressively in action during the recent agitations against Walter Energy and perhaps gives some valuable insights into the new CEO at APF:-

Mr. Treger's impressive CV and achievements can be found on the Audley capital web-site in the drop-down menu beneath "Home".

Still keen to know if he will be quitting Audley when he takes up the CEO position at APF.

Certainly the performance of Mr. Treger for various shareholders/investors over time cannot be ignored. Mr. Treger is a highly respected activist investor and as the Daily Mail says, "When Treger gets involved with a company, something does usually happen". This bodes well for the prospects of APF who, debt-free, will provide a solid base and firm spring-board to take the Company forward where he clearly sees significant value.

Moreover, I haven't seen many ( if any ) cases where an incoming CEO through fully/partly owned trusts and investment vehicles immediately lobs £2million odd into the Company to buy new equity on day one. That's a funny one. Almost reminiscent of old-school partnerships where a new partner had to buy his way in. But certainly a good sign of commitment from new man, Julian Treger and good to see that he already has so much " skin in the game". He is already up in just two days £300-400,000 on the £2m investment.

Haywards' 300p 2016 share price target would now appear to me, with a freshly invigorated APF and a heavy-hitting new CEO on board, to be achievable in a much, much shorter time-frame.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Ah subscription article. The opening para appears interesting.

I wonder how APF would fund larger royalty investments - i.e bank debt/share issue? Makes sense if these investments are near term revenue generating and of a reasonable/good valuation to APF.

I have added on this minor dip.
I do feel much more confident going forward.
Even wonder whether this could re-rate in due course.
Keen to get in before that even if possibly might drop back to 210 before onward march.

Q.P.
I look forward to your continued participation on this bb. on an even more regular basis.

Keep on digging, they do not say much this BOD, but as Piedro has found, it can be squeezed out from various sources at times.

You have obviously given the new crew a vote of confidence.
Maybe you were right to feel that the BOD. needed to improve their rather stale act.

They should certainly fully value the CDN coal now, which to me was the great danger, that they would sell it too cheaply, as it was a long term item, at a low valuation.
I worried that they were prepared to see the back of it to the first bidder.

Now it could be another flagship, to rival the AUS. coal royalty.

Enjoy the dividend.

I am not ignoring anything.

Can somebody please contact APF to get confirmation of one question on my mind whilst I am contemplating matters.

Will the new Chief Exec be quitting Audley where he is Founding Partner to concentrate 100% of his time at APF( barring small directorships ) ?

I can trace no announcement that he is stepping down from/closing Audley. I guess this must be the case as APF is a premium listed £245m market cap stock which would need a full time Chief Exec.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Q.P

Who knows what phase one may bring? Phase two could be interesting.

Would it be fair to say that the mkt, at the moment is looking 18mnths forward.
The price is rising on better mineral prices ?
It may be also the honeymoon period of new blood?

Would phase 2 include more investments ?

Surely with their mkt experience this is the time to strengthen the small mining portfolio ?
You seem to ignore the fact that over the years profits on some of the holdings have been exponential.
Until the crash of the small miners it was a very successful policy, why not pick up the bargains ?
The Royalties are after all a very slow, but steady income process that will back up the value for years.

Do you have a view on the CDN coal, which as Piedro has identified, may come to the fore with the new director & is past experience?
Cheers Hay.

The market approves that is for sure.

Some of the current bod were getting on in years and suffered with their health, so fresh, younger, and ambitious bod members should be a positive as long as they have the required credentials.

QP - my view is that even the best eventually lose the necessary skills/knowledge to keep themselves at the top of th game for a while.
Maybe this has been a little slow in coming. Credit to you for spotting some of their errors.
Fresh eyes, enthusiasm, skills and contacts can surely only be a good thing.
The market seems to think so.
You?

I would see now as a good time for the bod chnages. Ready for the new wave of improved commodity prices and required royalty portfolio improvements.

The new bod seem to both have the required pedigree and sector experience.
