Yes, I get all the kitchen sinking of poor investments, and write offs - standard practice for new management. But...still doesn't seem to offer as much exciting new potential as I was hoping for. As I said the overall tone is quite depressing and downbeat.

Well, maybe you did.

For example and if my reading is correct, I didn't know that Total Equity as at the half -year 30/6/13 would fall in six months from £248.7m to today's y/e figure of £216.8m.

Personally, I thought that Total Equity would have stabilised at the half-year and not fallen a further £32m.

Total Equity of £216.8m versus today's market cap of £225m looks expensive in my view for a company which has made such a large bottom-line loss this past year.

Let's not talk about the strength or otherwise of the dividend cover. The ratio is easy enough to calculate for oneself.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

At first glance:
Looks like they have paired, impaired it back to the bone.
The new crew are in place & as the dividend is being maintained we have little to loose.

Mining & small miners has been the worst possible place to be over the last 12months+.
We know that there are signs of change for the better ?
We will see what the new crew can do, the boat is far from sinking, we have the cash, we have the assets, & we have the CDN coal.

Pretty terrible in my view
Really struggling in my opinion to maintain the divi.
Is it wise to pay a divi at all when they lost so much money?
The Chairman's statement is longer than that of the CEO.

Two extracts from the announcement strike a very negative chord with me:-

-There have also been minor impairments in some of the Group's long dated royalties where macroeconomic conditions may delay the eventual production expected from them.

-The Group's net assets decreased in value from GBP301m at the end of 2012 to GBP217m at December 31, 2013.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

results are on next Thursday 20 February.

Price went up as the results of Rio were very good.

We may hit 280p this year as the royalties have improved.

I'm not complaining but I wonder how many of the buyers think they're getting Anglo American for a bargain price. :-)

Results can't be far away as the reporting season begins.
Hopefully the new man will have something to say to lift the share pricealong with an increased
dividend.
We know that Rio is doing very well as it is associated with Rio in Pilbara,Kestrel mine and other
projects.
I do expect the price to rise to £2.80 and might hit £3 or more as more royalties come in with increased
royalties(Rio had record shippments and production).
So lucky those who bought below £2.

So we should see a rise from now if the bottom has reached.
Lets see if we get back to 300p or maybe 400p now with all the new royalties coming up.
