The new tax is basically a subsidy for the biodiesel industry (B30) which in turn supports the palmoil price.

If there wouldn't be a subsidy for biodiesel, palmoil prices would be a lot lower.

Anyhow, I think no palmoil producer will complain with $670 CPO prices.

The new tax basically fixes their CPO price at around $670 for CPO prices in the range $700-1000, so the future is now more about production improvements than the CPO price.

Buying REA would be quite ironical : AEP was born out of REA (and others).

I'm sceptical though that the family Robinov would be willing to sell REA. Moreover, in view of all the debt at REA, REA isn't really cheap at the moment, even with the low share price.

what about a bid for re. ?
it has the cash that re. desperately needs to refinance
Buying pref and bond holders could substantially reduce finance costs
maybe a token amount for ord. shareholders?

Very frustrating. Slightly tricky for traders because discussion of the Indonesian tax changes could lead to short term weakness in what is a pretty illiquid share. Long term amazing value.....as long as the palm oil price doesn't play up.

When palm oil prices rise, the share price doesn't move.
When palm oil prices come down again, the share price follows.

This must be one of the cheapest shares around at the moment.

On a cash flow basis as well as on an asset basis.

Share price is a bit of a mystery ATM, they must be making a fortune with palm oil prices where they are currently.

Palm oil at 523 usd a ton is trading at the equivalent of 73 usd a barrel so abould 10 under brent crude ! This is crazy, low sulfur marine fuel is over 700 usd a ton an that market is petrified about where it will get supply from when the low sulfur rules come in in 2020 , palm oil use as biodiesel is going to raise prices significantly in the future, AEP produces palm oil at a lower cost than many oil companies and the shares trade at a huge discount to where a oil co producing 10k barrels a day would ( which in effect is what they do ) !
