Parkmead, the independent energy group, is pleased to announce it has been provisionally awarded three new offshore blocks by the North Sea Transition Authority ("NSTA") in Tranche 2 of the UK's 33rd Licensing Round awards.

This important award consists of a licence covering Blocks 14/15a, 14/20d and 15/11a situated in the Central North Sea. Parkmead will be operator and hold a 50% working interest, alongside its partner Orcadian Energy (CNS) Limited. The new licence contains seven undeveloped oil discoveries within Mesozoic and Palaeozoic reservoirs. The most substantial of these is Fynn Beauly.

Fynn Beauly is one of the largest undeveloped oil accumulations in the UK, with estimated gross P50 contingent resources of 292 million barrels. This large heavy oil discovery is situated between the prolific Claymore and Piper fields. The field extends across all three awarded blocks and is estimated to contain oil-in-place of between 740 and 1,330 million barrels. This is an important award because the acreage which encapsulates this significant oil field has not previously been licensed to a single partner group, creating an exciting opportunity for Parkmead and Orcadian to advance the development of this substantial, previously untapped resource.

The current licence commitment requires no major capital outlay. The work programme is focused on assessing the feasibility of reducing Fynn Beauly oil viscosity using enhanced oil recovery techniques. This work will include assessing the potential to utilise geothermal energy as part of the recovery mechanism to avoid the need for injected hot water. This would allow for the delivery of a successful development of this major field which is in line with the NSTA's Net Zero Strategy.

Tom Cross, Executive Chairman, commented:

"This award demonstrates further success in Parkmead's strategy to identify value enhancing opportunities through lower risk developments, which are aligned with the NSTA's Net Zero strategy. It also reaffirms Parkmead's status as a responsible and capable operator on the UKCS.

Re- EEE

What I particularly like is the backing which is starting to be shown by the Australian Government....

" As part of the economic assessment of the Project, the Company has started engaging with various level of government. There are several government grants and financial assistance packages available from various government departments and agencies in Australia and the EIS recognition as well as ongoing exploration and development activities will assist with efforts to gain access to further funding at both the exploration and project development stages."

Azerbaijan will hold snap leadership elections Wednesday (7 February) with President Ilham Aliyev poised to secure a fifth term on a wave of popularity fueled by his army’s sweeping victory over Armenian separatists.

COP29 to be held in November in Baku. This is an own goal by Aliyev.

Greta and the greenie gang from all over flying in in jets banging the drum on climate change/global warming that's all down to mankind ie us which is of course complete nonsense. Azer to be in the cross hairs for their oil industry which needs to be shut down and replaced with more solar and wind. AAZ to be shut down amid environmental concern of pollution that can't be independently checked by them and

Residents also complain about odours emitted by the reservoir, says Ecofront’s Gara.

"When it's hot, all this liquid starts to evaporate. This vapour on hot summer days is unbearable. Humans shouldn't live in these conditions. This kind of reservoir should not be near a residential area."

The 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, more commonly known as COP29, will be the 29th United Nations Climate Change conference.[1] Mukhtar Babayev, an Azerbaijani government minister and a former employee of Azerbaijan's national oil company SOCAR, was named president-elect for COP29 In January 2024.

Thank you for that post, excellent reference whilst the mud slinging persists.
Armenian diaspora will hopefully / eventually accept the peace process underway, beneficial to each and every bordering country and encompassing global outreach. Let’s hope it’s achieved 1st half of 2024 as rumored.

updated the thread header with logo that links to the English version of the AIMC website, which is likely the appropriate forum for the company to publish more of its local community engagement materials.

This was a post on social media from a senior manager at AIMC in June. I only have his word for it though.

Dear friends and brothers, as you know on social networks, a large blackmail campaign has been launched by some elements about Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited (AIMC).
For preliminary information, this company is engaged in the exploration and exploitation of feasible excavations in the territory of our country (Gadabay Nakhchivan Tovuz Zangilan Aghdara) in accordance with the agreement on revenue share section signed in 1997 (51% of the state and 49% of the companies).
The head of the country Mr. President Ilham Aliyev opened factories to start producing and constructing in Gadabay region at two different times and gave his blessing.!
The company has been operating for nearly 20 years and during this period it has played a serious role in the economic, political and social life of our country.
So, while our lands were still under occupation, the Company has repeatedly addressed formal applications and letters to international organizations and courts for the liberation of our lands from occupation. And what is the meaning of this, probably everyone understands very well.
Since the company (AIMC) started operations, it has produced more than 30 tons of Gold Au and several thousand tons of copper Ju, which 51% of which was given to the state budget according to the revenue share in the agreement. In addition, during this period, 4 useful excavation beds (Gadir Ughur Zafar Gilar) were discovered and handed over to the state by AIMC exploration group. And it comes with 1.000,000,000 lars in addition to the state budget, thousands of new jobs, and Gadabay region, which has no additional industry, is a great economic benefit. This is why, if we take a look at the statistics, we can see that Gadabay region is among the regions with the highest salaries in our country for the last 10 years. even the top 5 lines are included.
The company (AIMC) plays an important role in the social life of Gadabay region as in other areas.
So, in the area of Arigdam village, more than 500-person new school, built and handed over a completely new apartment to 3 families. Thousands of bee families were handed over to beekeepers at the expense of the company for community development, especially agriculture, beekeeping in the region. Currently, local people are taught this ancient handicraft and carpet development in the region, by involving specialists allocated places in the region. Regularly, 100s of orphan families are helped. Families in need and those who don't have money are provided with medicines.
During the 2nd Karabakh War, the company provided our army to a certain extent with special heavy machinery Bulldozer, Greyder, other machines and equipment with fuel and drilling means.
I have been working in this company for 19 years in various positions and the things I have listed have been the pirarity and political line of the company.
We have never advertised and socialized these works done by taking human debt. But in recent days, considering the blackmail campaign carried out by some elements against the company, I owe it to myself to list them.
We express our deep gratitude to the whole Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited (AIMC) family, especially Mr. Rza Vaziri, for all these works done.
Mr. Minister, we are sure that we will work for several more decades under your leadership, achieving successes and high achievements, and contribute to our country and the Azerbaijani people.
Sincerely,

Relations between Az and France are at an all time low.

It’s been on a downward spiral since France took several public stances widely viewed as being in favour of Armenia during peace negotiations, rather than the neutral position expected of a country acting as a chair.
From that point on Az refused to attend any negotiations where France was present.
This clearly further irked France and they have continued to move away from any pretence of neutrality.

A few days ago Azerbaijan, possibly as part of their long term response to the stirring of the pot in Gadabay, were promoting the long held viewpoint that mining in Armenia is carried out with little regard to the environment and that it has impacts across the border in Az.
A group of NGO’s from around the world were asking Armenia to change their ways.

I suspect it’s all part of the “he said, she said” that will now be played out by the governments.
I’d been following it but there hasn’t been anything of concern or direct benefit to AAZ mentioned yet anywhere I’ve seen so I’d not posted anything.
As Matt has previously said, the fact we’ve been given an independent clean bill of health will work in our favour from this point on. Let’s hope so anyway.

It’s clear Azerbaijan will now try to ensure their mining industry moves further ahead of Armenia’s in environmental considerations.
(AzerGold at Chovdar have recently just started their new plant up - they held hastily arranged “local consultation” meetings at the end of last year - again all part of the new way ahead IMO)

The second dam is going to have to go through a new permitting process which will include consultation with the locals.
The dam raise will tide us over until a location for the second dam is decided.

The average salarys in the surrounding area of the mine are in the top 5 in Azerbaijan, can't see those mountain villages wanting to give that up in a hurry.
Have I missed an RNS that said they have decided against a second lake?
