23/10/2020 12:02 | This thing has highlighted the nature of the Armenians, who are playing the 'victim' card despite them having invaded and desecrated 20% of Azerbaijan, whilst refusing to obey 4 UN rulings to return the occupied lands. The thing would end if Armenia simply withdrew behind their own legal borders, but they seem keen to want to draw as many as possible into the ugly mess. Perhaps Putin will step up his efforts rather than risk seeing the USA become the 'peace maker'? | ![]() lefrene

23/10/2020 10:52 | @2sp The evidence for 2 downed drones isn’t conclusive. The same twitter accounts I mentioned speculate it could be the same drone used twice for a variety of reasons. Not conclusive but interesting. @Winston Try these... @RALee85 @Mukhtarr_MD @il_kanguru @ryanmofarrell @obretix And many more but if you use these as a start point and dig around etc you’ll find most of the up to date stuff | jbravo2

23/10/2020 10:07 | The bizarre thing is that Armenia is attacking land that they are illegally occupying. You could be correct with the Russians jamming drones, effectively reminding the Azeri's who the daddy is. The Russians to save face will need to demonstrate that they are doing something for Armenia, but short of helping them continue their invasion. It would seem likely that the end game will be Russian peace keepers in NK and maintaining a corridor into NK from Armenia, but hopefully banning military equipment going into NK. I guess it boils down to, 'what do the Russians want'? Lets hope something comes out of the meeting in Washington, and that the Azeri's don't get caught up in electioneering games, with the USA playing to the large Armenian diaspora in the USA. | ![]() lefrene
23/10/2020 09:55 | There is mounting evidence that the Azerzis may be overwhelming Armenian resistance, having broken through and around their weaker established defences. However, i would not count the Armenians out just yet. For one thing, consider where they will have concentrated reserves. Will that be mostly in NG province and the supply corridors, where they will be increasingly easily observed from the air, within mass shelling range and increasingly face supply problems? Or might they be inside Armenia proper, just to the West of the supply corridors, where they are comparatively safe from attack and even scrutiny from the air? There is a Russian air base in this zone to consider too. I take the [Armenian sourced] account with a huge pinch but a day or 2 ago there was an release that a number [~10 claimed] of Az. drones were downed by electronic jamming radiated out from the airbase; the Russkies trying out latest kit apparently. There was additionally video evidence of 2 downed drones but they could have been taken out anywhere by whatever... There is no doubt that the Azerzis have surprised their opponents with their combat potency. Their drones in particular have greatly enhanced their offensive capabilities and though not neutralised the Armenian capacity to mobilise counter attacks in strength, surely compromised it. The established defence lines may be something of a latter day Maginot line. But i'll be surprised if the Armenians simply roll over here. | ![]() 2sporrans

23/10/2020 09:21 | The Azeri's do seem to have a well thought out plan, no doubt they have put much thought into it. Speed is of the essence, don't give the opponent a chance to regroup, and don't shell Armenia proper and put Russia in the embarrassing position of having to defend Armenia. Because that would lead to a wider regional war which presumably nobody wants? The Azeri's are having to do for themselves what the UN should have done in 1994, no doubt that will come up in the meeting in Washington later today. One hopes it's soon over and the aggressive Armenian PM gets the boot, because the public image of Armenia is going to require quite a makeover after this ugly episode. | ![]() lefrene

23/10/2020 08:46 | Keeping up the pace. More quick gains. I guess the defence forces have largely given up. This is very close to the capital now. If there’s going to be street to street fighting as opined earlier in the thread I guess it will be there. Can’t see it happening on any large scale now, simply due to the presumed collapse in morale. The information war has seen to that. First videos from inside Shusha. | jbravo2
