retrostat: IMO, looking at what VR can do, it does not seem too much of a stretch of the imagination to see this technology becoming the dominant form of electronic communication and commerce. The hardware will continue to shrink and get more advanced, data transmission facilitating VR will continue to expand (5G, Space X Starlink) and the utility of the VR experience will continue to evolve and become ever more effective. Mark Zuckerberg is at the cutting edge of VR technology and changing the name of his company with a near trillion dollar market cap, to Meta, is not something I imagine to be done with a high degree of speculation about the place VR and the Metaverse will hold in our near future. Imagine through VR, browsing and shopping in an Amazon Metaverse, how vast and popular that would be, then ordering and paying for products in VR, maybe even using Crypto from a VR bitcoin wallet? I imagine a company which will have built a working corporate metaverse and has the experience and credentials to build and oversee safe and secure metaworlds for large corporations could do particularly well in such a scenario. I will come back down to earth now and look to buy some more EXR while this is still cheap.

hazl: Someone was talking about the best way to invest in a trend, and often it's the people that make the equipment and the basics to keep that sector going. I think most people have heard about the Metaverse by now and the thing that is required is a reliable platform. Engage XR provides that in essence to Facebook...renamed.... and has relationships already with several very influential companies. This is going to be an important part of people's lives, I believe. EXR has quietly been cementing it's place in what I'm sure will be a very lucrative market. https://www.theverge.com/22588022/mark-zuckerberg-facebook-ceo-metaverse-interview https://stratechery.com/2021/metaverses/ At the same time, Zuckerberg said, the metaverse will bring enormous opportunity to individual creators and artists; to individuals who want to work and own homes far from today’s urban centers; and to people who live in places where opportunities for education or recreation are more limited. A realized metaverse could be the next best thing to a working teleportation device, he says. With the company’s Oculus division, which produces the Quest heads
hazl: Pleased to say that I am part of the EXR fan club. The Metaverse surely is the next big trend?
turbocharge: I remember posting this on the VRE thread recently (hopefully we are on track for 30-33p): Intermediate-Term Bullish Signal generated on 27 Aug 2021 (Flag) Volume 13,349 Close Price 16.25 Target Price 30.00 - 33.00 Pattern Duration 10 weeks Inbound Trend Duration 12 weeks
norbert dentressangle: The lights are glowing pretty brightly at the moment, with no obvious reason. Share price up from a shabby 2.2p when they exited from AIM to currently an exciting 11p! Not sure how many folk held on after the AIM departure but I'm glad I did. Going to cash in shortly, if only I could find that certificate...
spectoacc: OK read it again, very interesting. Lots of bleating from Halliburton about how EXR had agreed in principle to this auction process, that Umbrellastream had agreed to it too, & seemingly all Hallib. thought they had to do was put in a slightly increased offer. But reading between the lines - EXR weren't sure Halliburton's offer would get anti-trust approval, so going to auction & them winning it COULD have meant no deal at all. Hence I think that's why they decided to go with the already-approved 1615p cash offer, rather than a higher offer that may yet have come to nothing.
spectoacc: grgkecer, huge thanks for that. Ridiculous though - Halliburton were willing to go higher than +10p over Umbrellastream! But seems they had their bluff called - they thought by pitching the offer just a tiny bit higher, the EXR board would agree to an auction process. Instead, EXR stuck with the 1615p and Halliburton have walked away. Not saying I'm disappointed with that; but I'm disappointed Halliburton took until the last sec (after many many weeks, in fact a ridiculous amount of time) to give EXR a not particularly great ultimatum, which they then turned down. Anyone know when the 1615p gets sent out? Sounds like quite soon. All those buyers at around 1675 yesterday going to be licking their wounds, but wish I'd sold..
macmoss: Yes, sorry, £14.35. I'm afraid my fingers do not always type what my brain tells them to do! I see that so far today the share price has been as high as £14.67 so a small premium to the offer price. As I type shares are changing hands at around £14.54. Other parties are looking at Expro so a higher offer is possible. The directors are recommending the present offer but their share holdings are not at all significant so I guess it will be the institions that have the final say. As I said, I am happy with the present offer, having paid less than £3 for each of my shares, but the fair value Of £17 mentioned by the fund manager on Bloomberg would be even more pleasing.
macmoss: This is what I said in in my postings on 8th April when the share price was around £12.40 "Chart looking interesting. Need to break the recent highs for a possible run to £15. Fund manager Jane Coffey said on Bloomberg, about 8 weeks ago, that this company was worth over £17 and that she was prepared to continue to hold the stock." and "I respect Jane Coffey's view that Expro is worth £17. I accepted her comments on face value. As a holder of Expro for more years than I can remember I would be very happy with £15. I am saying £15 based on completion of a potential chart pattern, but it is dangerous to buy in anticiaption of a breakout above resistance, which I see at around £13. IMO £15 should be the level the share price should attain based solely on the chart with no reference to the potential bid." It will be interesting to see if other institutional investors agree with Jane Coffey and hold out for a higher offer. I am very happy with the £14.63 but if we see the share price trade above the offer price today then there is the chance of a higher offer.
