Reports of fighting in both the BBC and Guardian. Got to be a big threat to the share price given we are not that far from the border. I see Putin has ordered a cessation immediately so hopefully all comes to nothing.

I have far too many shares here but story is soo good.

I dont remember the conflict causing so much news before. It is all over the tabloids and news bulletin boards. That is not going to be good for the shareprice of AAZ imo. Could be marked down much lower first thing in the morning unless a ceasefire is reached before then

It's a great tool 2sp. Well done to you. I've not found Gosha yet. That's Baku university report is really, really interesting as it suggests that Ugur, like most of the other targets, are merely near-surface expressions of an all together way, way, way bigger deposit. From Q4 onwards we're going to be burrowing deeper in towards that porphyry body via Gedabek u/g ... all the other satellite deposits will provide the ore, the cash & the profits for the whole deeper porphyry to be probed and mapped.

Jeeez it was hard work finding Gosha mine on Google Earth.
Duplicate place names.....hard work finding nearby locations to interpolate from
and features/boundaries to guide me in.

Thanks for the tip Matt.
I was able to master the new tool sufficiently well to 'swivel' the viewing angle
to reveal the mine portal at close proximity.

Left me inadequate time to complete the job; that is to produce an annotated
map guide as to the existing Gedabek + Gosha Contract Areas and superimpose a
notional boundary as to the prospective enlarged CA, with Gedabek & Gosha subsumed.
If i can, i further intend to annotate to show the new mine prospects, especially Avschancli and Zehmet - to the N. of the Gedabek CA and what may prove to be a near surface ore deposit that is
part of the porphyry zone mooted by Matt in post above .....but i've not yet had time to read...

I intend to complete the task when time and inclination permit.
Fro now, here is a view showing where Gedabek and Gosha mines are located; Gosha being some 50km NW from Gedabek according to the AAZ blurb.

Wan, this happened in 2016, a ceasefire was declared a day later. It must be awful for people living in Nagorno. Raised tensions might just help with other countries mediating to sort the whole area out once and for all but for some reason I think we'll be saying the same in 10 yrs.

spot on Cel, thanx for posting, cheers Wan :-)

"As a result of the counter-offensive operation, a number of Azerbaijani residential areas that were under occupation have been liberated," he said in remarks broadcast on television.

"I am confident that our successful counter-offensive operation will put an end to the occupation, to the injustice, to the 30-year-long occupation."

Nagorno Karabakh has been an issue for as long as I remember. It is generally contained in that area. It seems that Azer have taken 7 villages back, I guess this is the issue. It'll all be quiet again soon waiting for the next flare up.

Wan.
Let's hope it is a short lived one, and that Azerbaijan can liberate there land. I think this seems to be the most serious flare up since the original ceasefire.

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

Hajiyev noted that taking into consideration the Armenian provocation, Azerbaijan is introducing martial law starting 00:00 (GMT+4) on Sept. 28, 2020. He said that from 21:00 to 06:00 (GMT +4) a curfew will be introduced in the cities of Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Naftalan, as well as in Absheron, Jabrail, Fizuli, Beylagan, Agdam, Terter, Gokgol, Dashkesan, Tovskom, Guzadabey, Shamkir, Gazakh and Agstafa regions.

hopefully AAZ won't be too affected, not being located in a city...

as for AAZ share price, hmm, could be some cheaper ones tomorrow me thinks...

we shall have to wait and see what happens next,,,

Cheers

Azerbaijan now introduced martial law. I have never seen this before. I think Azerbaijan mean business this time and can see them liberating Nagorno-Karabakh.Armenian PM told civilians to evacuate the area allegedly.

I was going to say AAZ for the week ahead predictions, but news of more fighting might spook a few investors. Also I', sure the yanks will try and suppress POG for a little while longer. So I'll go for DDDD again although hopeful of a successful P2 IBS trial announcement the path of pharmaceuticals rarely runs smoothly, buts here's hoping.

I'm quite sure its all a bit of jockeying by either side ahead of the USA election to try and push the region up the political agenda in Washington.

Azerbaijan has done a good job of remaining 'neutral' in the region. It buys arms from Russia, Israel, USA, Turkey and also has been strengthening its ties with Iran. Don't forget over 20% of Iran population is Azerbaijani.
Europe is completely toothless in the region.
Aremenia mainly relies on Russia for support, whereas Azerbaijan would probably count on support from Turkey, Iran and USA.

I'd be surprised if this latest flare up persists for too long … it's more about trying to gain attention from Washington and make sure both Trump & Biden are aware post-election result.

In this part of the world, a 'western style' democracy is likely a long-term weakness hence the preponderance of more Autocratic governance.

indeed, it just rumbles on,,, get's more intense for a while, then calms down for a bit and so on,, as an investor in AZER one just has to accept/live with the threat of it getting out of control and hope it does not,,, I've been through this particular worry cycle a few times over the past 2 years and eventually came to my decision to ignore it,,, rightly or wrongly,,, but, it's all, as investors we can each do really,,, it's out of our control etc etc.... I just wish mankind would stop hurting each other full stop!! GLA Cheers Wan :-)

Previously, we have had some discussion here about Ugur .. how it got there, what type of deposit is it, what lies underneath etc.

Th company has advised it now plans to go deeper under Ugur as they have now found more mineralisation at depth.

I came across this paper today by the Department of Geology, Baku State University, Azerbaijan, which ia definitely worth reading!.

This is cracking revelation:

The remote sensing anomalous (in NW and SW) area is believed to remain open in all directions under shallow, post-mineral cover. Deposit alteration signature has characteristics which suggest the current outcrop level may be near the top
of a mineralized, gold-bearing high-sulfidation epithermal (HSE) system ………. Outcropping gold mineralization at the project is oxidized with no sulfides
recognized at surface. Mineralization is hosted by brecciated, and intense advanced argillically-altered andesitic volcanics and possible domes, including large areas of “powdery” probably alunite-opal alteration (Figure 9). The outcropping alteration at the deposit is typical of the upper steam-heated levels of high-sulfidation epithermal (HSE) deposits, which in most mineralized systems of this type, may cap higher-grade gold mineralization which is hosted by underlying vuggy and oxide zones."

It seems to be kicking of in Azerbaijan again with Armenian. Been reports of PKK moving into Karabach. The Turks will not like that. I think this time will see some serious fighting. USA embassy advice is not to go into the region's. Just when you think 2020 will not get weirder.
