Well, shafted with TRX for a 50% loss (fortunately only a tiny holding), and AVCT nearly ten-bagging. Never experienced this before in over 30 years of investing. Talk about win some, lose some. Or to paraphrase Wan, What a gain this is!

How can bill take the share price seriously when net sales of 50k can wipe £6M+ off of the share price

@JB - many thanks thats interesting, with the 5 projects in Gedabek plus Gosha, Ordubad and looking outside the country (although I remember this point being made many years ago) it looks like Ordubad is not the sole focus at the moment. A JV would certainly open up the region, reduce risk and speed things up.

@Thomas
Yes I remember :D
Two years ago I asked a question at the AGM about Ordubad. I wanted confirmation we weren’t in breach of the PSA as weren’t producing from there in the timescale stipulated by the PSA after the notice of discovery.
They confirmed they continue to get extensions granted as they continue to explore to decide the best approach for what will probably be a massive series of mines requiring large investment. I also asked whether they’d consider some kind of joint approach with AG (who have the neighbouring CA in Ordubad - wondered if they could share a plant) and got an answer suitably open that of course it would be a consideration but not a definite.

I'm curious as to how/why they came up with the name "Zefer Cell 9"

For Avshancli they have used a numbering system and we know of 1 & 3

For Zefer, using the term "Cell 9" kind of infers there are other Cells to the Zefer mineralisation area

Slightly disappointed about Ordubad which according to the IPO is where the big finds can be found. Does anyone remember the announcement below. 8 years later I am still here waiting for an update ! Looks like I’ll have to wait another couple of years. I’m sure Ordubad will be amazing once we really get going already bonanza grades identified.

Anglo Asian Mining plc, the AIM listed gold producer, announces that it has submitted a Notice of Discovery for gold on its 462 sq km Ordubad Contract Area located in Azerbaijan to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

The Notice of Discovery is a requirement set out in the Company's Production Share Agreement ('PSA') signed with the Government of Azerbaijan which needs to be in place before the technical and economical evaluation of a deposit in terms of a Development and Production Programme can take place.

The Notice of Discovery has been submitted following exploration work performed by Anglo Asian at its Piyazbashi and Agyurt deposits at Ordubad during 2010 and 2011, building on work performed in Soviet times. This exploration work included surface trenching and sampling, re-sampling of 3,000m of adits, 2,500m of surface drilling and 1,400m of underground drilling at the Agyurt target. Further information concerning the results of the studies and exploration work will be announced in due course and further exploration work is now planned with a view to confirming a small gold deposit with production potential.

According to the terms of the PSA, following the submission of the Notice of Discovery, the Company has six months to submit a Development and Production Programme to the Government of Azerbaijan for approval.

doc-oj, Of course a holder wants to see his capital increase via a higher share price, it's just that attempting to please a market with hype, can lead to poor decisions around priorities. Eventually value shines through, and yes it is frustrating when a market seems blind to solid value.

Ah, I see

"talks outside of Azerbaijan” has the opportunity to supprise nicely to the upside. I would not expect the vastly experienced team at aaz to buy anything that was not a great investment :-)

agreed Rb, thing is though, that acceptable offer for their business could come at any time,, in an instant,, and the buyer will being paying for current value and the future, so providing the narrative around the gold price remains UP UP UP and AAZ keep proving up greater and great potential the higher the price,,, all drivers for a big fish to come along and swallow the little fish before it gets too big, too quick.... it could happen any day soon,,,, and recall the 'we're in a hurry' comment (or something like that),,, management aren't getting any younger :-) we shall see :-) Cheers Wan :-)

yes I guess he gave the answer he could have but still not happy especially since I was in a unplanned meeting at 7am till 8am and could not get any in the auction.
I notice ORPH is now 14.25 down 4.6% seems the discount sales are over.

Wan personally in this instance fully agree with you but I can see the wide range of opinions, ODR perfect example. Difference for me is I’ve ready seen large capital growth, so content with chunky dividends whilst I wait for more; in another share I might not be so patient.

The board don’t act on behalf of traders, they are looking after their own and investors best interests by continuing to roll out a plan that mines efficiently and low cost, developing resources, all the time building a significant cash pile and rewarding investors whilst we wait. I can live with that. Value will accrue in time.

Hoping the question would garner clarification on “talks outside of Azerbaijan” as also might involve financing or income for services rendered.

AAZ seems to just plod along when gold surges and fall quicker and faster relative to the sector the other way.

I did hold for some months but got fed up with the above scenario playing out time and time again.

No idea what the issue is (if any) but doing far better with other gold and silver miners who have outperformed AAZ by a country mile.

@bleepy

Company has and is generating enough free cash for any planned expediture

I also noted fron the presentation how Bill hardly mentioned the porphyry - this is the single most transformative event on the horizon which could lead to a mkt cap north of 1billion imo - his caution and knowing how to read it has provided long term investors the ability to exploit the valuation gap here and to sleep well at night

Gold is up today and yet people are selling no doubt weekend is coming. The draw back is the high margin. 140p to buy.

Well the point about this forum and its holding in aaz is important. This is surely the most active discussion of the co on the whole internet, and we are an important part of the story. I don't want things to be 'pumped' by the company, but do want them to seem interested in the share price action. "The market will do what it does" is not good enough, imo.

@lefrene: lol, my holding in the company is higher today than ever and that is because the company is well run. Who has said that is not the case. But if any shareholder of any company tells me that they don't care about the share price then clearly we are simply playing a different game here!

AAZ - a lot of discussion in regard to managements seeming disregard for the share price going on,,,, fwiw and I know I haven't been around too long,,,, here's my simplistic take on it,,,,

management has so much skin in the game, to them it's like being the owners of a Limited Company, a Private business and as such the only time the share price will matter will be when they sell that business,,,, in the meantime all they need to do is build value in the business and the buyer will eventually have to pay for that,,,, whilst they are busy doing that they have no control over the markets, the world, cv19, price of gold, institutions etc etc,,,, so, they work on what they can control, maximise value and then sell it at a price they will accept,,,, remember Bill's answer to the question last night!!

I intend to stay with AAZ to point of that sale and maybe beyond :-) (black swans permitting)

GLA Holders
Cheers

Thanks 2SP

Much appreciated, tinyurl is down at the moment so will read it again later

I note at the end of the presetation Bill said the aim was to show "much" more mine life in the JORCs for the existing mines. I find his use of the word much given his reserved nature to be very encoraging

doc-oj, the company is exceptionally well run, and that rightly is where the managers are focused, they are not going to attempt to 'run' the share price. Most AiM companies are more about running their share price than building a proper business, usually because most AiM companies are forever tapping the market to keep the directors in the style to which they have become accustomed.

AAZ don't need to tap the market, and they won't be doing stunts like borrowing money for share buybacks, to artificially lift the share price to get a bigger bonus! Their focus is on building a company, and not worrying about keeping the 'teenage scribblers' sweet.
