Reading that I can't see any good new for Oxy?
So an American Billionaire want to protect the USA and has invested in Oxy and no doubt happy with the foolhardy venture into shale.

Being the largest company in fracking non viable oil is not really good news.

Interesting speculative musings from "jointhedots" on LSE:

Oxy Colombia are the companies best performing operations, some feat considering they are very efficient in all they do. I posted about a month ago (as I recall) a link to an article in which the Oxy CEO extolled the virtues of their Colombia operations.

Someone has recently just posted that it has been all bad news from Oxy recently, that is patently and absolutely untrue:

- they bought Anadarko recently with the backing of Warren Buffet operations which an oil major wanted and included a Colombian presence
- operationally they are doing fine, as I said yesterday their reported losses where expected and largely due to purchasing costs of Anadarko.
- they have announced the completion of the sale of multiply assets as intended to rebalance their debt
- and IMO most interestingly they have partnered up with Ecopetrol who will cover the costs to go fracking on some of their acreage in the US, they are after all now the world's largest fracking company after the purchase of Anadarko.

That leads in to the suggestion I made yesterday that Ecopetrol is a likely candidate to bid for Amerisur, the reasoning is:
- they are looking to expand and have a war chest to invest
- a stated aim of partnering with Oxy is to learn their staff about fracking (why?)
- Ecopertol and the Colombian government want to start fracking in Colombia to fulfil the desperate need to replace production
- Amerisur's large blocks could potentially hold large quantities of heavy oil including reserves with fracking potential. so ideal opportunity to extend their partnership and go large scale.

Then there is my third pick Geo Park, they have just partnered with an Ecopetrol subsidiary to take on all the block offered around CPO-5 as well as holding a share in Llanos 34. So again 2 companies have shown commitment to asset which fit nicely with Amerisur's.

Hence my belief those 3 companies will be right in there, perhaps begrudgingly having to include ONGC, trying to acquire at least part of the estate, time will tell but any suggestion that Oxy (or either of the other companies)are under stress or haven't got the clout is way off the mark.

Will be very interesting to see how close he/she comes to the eventual outcome! Whatever that may be!

I think we will start to see some more buying action in the coming days as more people will want to be in rather than out pre sales process conclusion this quarter.Could be easy money.....

The top 10 share holders in Amerisur hold 54.4% of the shares, see list below. If they think its a good idea to hold, maybe its a good bet. If you add on the bod shares and other companies holding a million shares plus. I doesn't leave much in the hands of individuals like us. Looks like we are in good company.

This is the last chance to top up before the BIG takeover news, I believe Giles & Co will come good for all us Amer investors & we be raising a glass of bubbly to the board. I topped up again today as anticipation heats up, good luck all we won’t be disappointed.

The assets speak for themselves and have been undervalued by a disenchanted professional market for some time - too long. The prospective acquirers care not for the worth of the Amer board, just the available acreage and the strategic infrastructure. It’s a significant and increasingly rare opportunity on offer and it won’t be spurned. We’ll be okay...

Hmmmm, quite a party!

Where the final sale price ends up I reckon will largely depend on what OXY and ONGC know about their respective/existing interests. If they have their act together, I reckon ONGC may well win it.

I wouldn’t pay too much regard to M&P’s opening gambit - just a fishing expedition or a pre-arranged starter gun.

IF M&P have placed a bid as stated it's difficult to see them too far above 17p without looking completely stoopid, smells a little of a lower offer than one would like, shame Shell didn't get a mention, that would have woke me up!

There cannot be a no deal now!
It looks like I was wrong about GC controling Micinoku,
they have given GC one year to get value out of AMER
and IRON. No deal and its no GC next year.

Losing one job is unfortunate, losiny two is down right carless!!

I hope so but as time goes by a no deal is always a possibilty. It needs to be an acceptable offer for Giles Clarke and his merrymen. As you said if its no deal then we have wasted so much time and the share price will no doubt fall

Update on Monday....hopefully a recommended offer.Nightmare scenario is no satisfactory offer and taking off market. Would be 6 months wasted.
