Stop Press: Reports coming in that a male Emu (ammu) has escaped its enclosure at Chester Zoo. Keepers say it is an amorous and highly unpredictable immature male that should not be approached - handlers have requested that members of the public remain vigilant and report any sightings immediately - cautioning not to attempt approaching the animal.

FT, nothing we don't already know:-

Amerisur Resources, a UK oil and gas company whose assets are based in Colombia, is the latest London-listed small cap producer to receive a takeover offer this year after it received an approach from Paris-based rival Maurel & Prom.

M&P disclosed on Monday that it approached the board of Amerisur last week with a possible 17p-per-share cash and shares offer, valuing the UK company at about $257m.

The offer would be made up of 12.5p in cash and new shares in M&P worth 4.5p per Amerisur share.

It implies a 41.7 per cent premium to Amerisur’s share price of 12p on July 17, the day before the approach was made, M&P said.

The French company said it has already engaged with “certain”; major shareholders in Amerisur to discuss the offer.

On Friday Amerisur issued a statement saying it had decided to conduct a formal review of “various strategic options” to maximise value for shareholders, including a potential sale, following interest in both the company as a whole and its assets.

A number of smaller oil and gas companies have disappeared from the London market this year, including Faroe Petroleum, which was taken over by DNO of Norway, and Ophir Energy, which was bought by Indonesia’s Medco.

Napoleon, 20p is the big resistance for me and is the point I sold out my much larger holding many years ago. am very grateful to RH and the likes for allowing me to get back in at a level under 15p which I will keep, this time, until the end!!!!

The market currently valuing Amer not much over £150m bearing in mind it will have about £50m in cash is clearly ridiculous when you look at all its assets and zero debt. The only issue it’s had is that the Board have not played along with the market manipulators as they would like and as a result Amer’s share price was punished. The time has come for reality to hit those manipulators hard.

Master stroke by the board. The stock has been undervalued by a manipulating market all year, based on constant sniping at the Board. What this exercise will do regardless of whether a sale results, is to highlight and confirm the true realistic commercial value of Amer and get the share price back to a reasonable level, certainly mid 20s.

That rules a line at the bottom, the board were right to invite others as this together with some good news rns’ could get the share price back to realistic levels I.e 30s
Any bid will need to be far north of that imo to be successful

Following the approach from Maurel & Prom concerning its Possible Offer and the receipt of other interest in the Company, the Board concluded that the Maurel & Prom Possible Offer materially undervalued the Company and was not at a level, nor in a form, that merited further consideration.

Probably the worst offer I have ever had the misfortune of receiving for a share, that was utterly pathetic at 17p and not even a cash offer.
