Too low, they will need to do better than that. Need to research this company a bit more.

If you think about it private investors have always been behind the curve when it comes to AMER. The farm-in by OXY, exercising the first right of refusal and subsequent nil-profit onsale both came out of the blue but clearly they were part of a deeper BoD plan. Would it surprise anyone if AMER's chosen & selective reporting style were also designed to keep share price in check/depressed for a partner like OXY to take them out on the cheap with BoD awarding themselves excessive renumeration and a handsome payout on takeover?

If we see 30p I'd be surprised but at least I'd get out with a 50% odd profit. A 17p bid surely would have been rejected immediately by BoD? If this was the bid which sparked Friday's rise then we'll see a reversal this week imho.

Sol-1 results should have been out by now.

Cant see them getting it for 17p, but I can see a lot of other interested parties entering the frame given the starting auction price. Could well work in our favour.

30 odd pence, if it happens...have to take it. But as a super long term holder (since the very conception so 14 or 15 years or so!) I can't help feeling it'd be a bit of a kick in the plums having weathered all for so long. Could have and perhaps should have sold at 67p years ago. Hey Ho.

Aceuk -- re. your post 21489. It is now a probability imo --------->

The Board has appointed BMO Capital Markets as its financial adviser with regards to the formal sales process and as independent financial adviser for the purposes of Rule 3 of the Code. Stifel Nicolaus Europe Limited has been appointed as joint financial advisor to the Company.

I agree with most that core assets should be around in the thirties somewhere, but I do think most (including myself) are scaling down expectations and showing an element of price anchoring.

Core asset value is not the same as a takeout price, the undeveloped acreage for example is generally not free.

Having said that, I'm sticking with 30p+ and considering anything over and above that a bonus.

I thought fadilz offered a useful alternative view in his valuation and see very little there to argue with.

As for the argument that Fridays rise in some way indicates the likely offer price, that's not been my experience in previous takeover situations and I see no reason for it to be true here. In addition, even if it was true, no formal offer has been made and so there would a hefty risk premium to apply to any potential offer and that will still be true until the contract is signed.
