I'm curious. Is Friday typically a day for announcing good news or bad news?

From Malcy's blog today:
'AMER yesterday announced that it had exercised its right to first refusal on the Vestra sale of PUT-8 acreage to Gran Tierra Energy at a cost of $19.1m. The amount is easily funded from cash reserves built up in the last couple of years for just such an opportunity. Commitment is 3D seismic and a well when permission allows but much more importantly AMER get to put more oil down the OBA pipeline at financially beneficial economics. With the result from CPI-5 imminent and the Occidental deal bedding in I can think of few better investments in the sector.'

AMER's strategy appears to be focused more on land-banking and deal-making than E&P. I'm not saying that is wrong, long term, but it ain't doing much for the share price currently. Obviously hoping for something good from CPO-5 to give the numbers a boost.

Nowhere did the RNS state that Amerisur would be paying in cash? Its from internal resources? They have the ability to allot shares, but premature at this stage as I suspect a farmout on the horizon.

Refer to the Feb pres...Mariparriba is costed at $7 mill, seismic @ $7.6 million (on a 100% basis)

So where does the "10+20" come from? Commitment (as per last ops update) is one well & seismic

How about a positive spin on one of the largest onshore Colombian oil finds in recent years!!

;o)

If Calao is a combo trap and has the same LS3 characteristics as Indico is there an oil handling issue at the well-head causing the delay in completing and assessing natural flow?

hence blowing $50m (19+10+20) needlessly on PUT8 for ‘strategicR17; reasons is beyond me.

...Where does your "10+20" come from? 2019 commitment was previously about $8 mill, split between Mariparriba & seismic.

whatever the reason given, it's difficult to put a positive spin on it!

Jan 19 averaged about 2100 bopd
Feb 19 averaged about 1865 bopd

POO breaking into new trading range.
Market continues to tighten.

JP Interesting they made the final call about a fortnight after when Calao should have reached target depth. There’s confidence written all over this Put-8 move. They have a very good handle on what’s there.

CPO5 self funding for exploration has some merit but that funds 2nd or 3rd gear not 5th and certainly not production facilities, hence blowing $50m (19+10+20) needlessly on PUT8 for 'strategic' reasons is beyond me.

Some of the larger wells in Plat have been down for routine maintenance - as per the last operational RNS.

“Further well interventions are planned on 24, 21, 25ST1, 17 and 7 as part of the normal maintenance and optimization operations in the Platanillo field”

Whilst understandable, the volumes going down the OBA barely get a mention on these boards, for example

2018 1H: 4987 bopd
2019 March (ave of days 1 - 20): 1861 bopd
Decline: -67%

Amerisur is a story of two halves.
Half is spluttering. Half is very promising.
But for the former, the share price would doubtlessly be stronger.

Indico success and the reserves upgrade under normal circumstances would be massive share price catalysts - just need to clear this seller. Rest assured the richness of the LS3 in CPO5 is no mirage! After the success at Mariposa the game changed from exploration to execution. The intel from both Mariposa and Indico alongside seismic and results from neighbouring blocks explains the intent from ONGC to now move through the gears. One more drill success and it’s self-funding expansion.

We couldn’t be better placed IMMHO.

Lauders - thanks for your time in detailing all this.
Yes it makes anything under 20p look a great buy now, imo!

I didn't see ANY sells and to me it makes a buy price of anywhere below 20.25 pence (highest paid on 22nd May 2018) seem very sensible. Still time and funds willing I would be joining the BOD after the latest news!

Since that time we have had the following RNS's (most recent first):

20 Mar 2019 7:00 am Exercise of Right of First Refusal Put-8
06 Mar 2019 7:00 am Reserves Update
04 Feb 2019 7:00 am Spudding of Calao-1X, CPO-5
23 Jan 2019 7:00 am Exercise of Options under Long Term Incentive Plan
22 Jan 2019 7:00 am Amerisur Resources (AMER) Reserves, Operational and Production Update

Something tells me we should be above the 17p level we currently find ourselves at, but at least I had the opportunity to top-up yesterday.
