A hard lesson learned by all shareholders and onlookers.

Never ever put money into a biotech.

At least VOW was shown up to be completely clueless about business matters.

Silver, I hate to admit but your call was right.

My increasing growing distrust of Tim, should have made me sell out, but I didn't.

In the end I was just too pleased he had gone, but I failed to factor in the damage he and the Board had been doing all along. Lesson learnt.

I sold VOW. I did buy yes, and lost some on those.

Why didnt you listen to me? I was probably the only one calling from this to go under. Why do you consider that dellusion? Its always the same with you isnt it.

Its done, move on and dont ever darken any investors door again. You are a liability.

So thats it then AZMs demise has been a long drawn out process now it has finally arrived !.

I guess i had been hoping for a miracle, with T saving the day with a deal for Ceti FAT chance !!!.

Who is to blame ?.

I echo the sentiments expressed by Dr Biotech in post 24022 and Filbert3 post 24024. I also endorse the views expressed in Peaeff post 24027.

Many lurkers, posters, funds were taken in and invested in AZM in part because of the story put out by the management of AZM,which were hyped by the press, and yes it did look like AZM had a blockbuster portfolio with drugs to die for.

I am so sorry that i had any part in this company, and that i believed the emails i received from TMc which gave me reason to invest. He once told me that i should sell my shares as i was sceptical after the Renza results.

Now that was the only good advice he gave me !!!!.

I certainly share those sentiments Peaeff.
Well Tim has certainly transformed the company now.
I gave back a lot of the money I made on AZM because I believed the "transforming deals by the end of the year" rubbish.
Once the reality dawned on me that I felt I could not trust the board I sold up and moved on........I was one of the lucky ones.
Good luck to all on here.

Morning all

May I firstly say that I feel terribly sorry for anyone who has held here to this unfortunate end, and just hope that some compensation may be forthcoming in the longer term and, that it hasn't left anyone too badly embarrassed.

I have no doubt that a few 'lucky people' have avoided the losses which most investors have suffered at the hands of this company and it's, devious and money grabbing, management team.

Quite apart from the losses, 'done and dusted', I accepted prior to the famous 'deals across the board' speech, I stupidly believed management forecasts and again got involved and I guess am lucky to have got out 3 months back with yet another loss. So be it and goodbye to the pharma sector, lesson learned.

I know this was half expected but right up to the last, it would appear, management were not singing from the correct hymn sheet and I find that disgusting.

May I wish you all 'good luck' in the future and hope to chat with you on other boards. It's good to talk, even sentimental rubbish.

regards PF

Who put forward the motion to sack McCarthy back when he was spinning his labour party type lies? It amazes me how investors allowed him to keep on, although plenty commented on his abysmal pay/performance ratio. Perhaps he is just another overpaid undereducated "executive", maybe he will get a knighthood/peerage as other failures seem to do.
I did not have a lot invested in AZM and feel I got my just deserts so not too bothered. However I do think that anyone who believed Timmyboy did so in good faith and there should be some kind of action along the lines of Mr Filbert3!

Chronicler
I took soundings about a possible fund raising to sustain AZM for another 18 months and my impression was although institutions think Cetilistat Japan has a good chance there just is not the money available from institutions at present after what has been a difficult few years for biotechs and biotech funds in general.

I am therefore not surprised to see AZM go into Administration today. They would have known the intitutions would not provide further cash and without another deal, going into Administration now, instead of after August, saves a few months running costs.

It is also helpful that AZM put themselves into Administration rather than any creditors forcing it, so I doubt if they have substantial liabilities.

As you quoted above, I now expect AZM to remain on ice in Administration until Cetilistat Japan reports after July 2010 and if the results are successful the Company to receive a milestone payment from Takeda which should enable AZM to come out of administration with the current shareholdings intact and be re-quoted at a premium to todays price. Hopefully there will be different management.

In the mean time people might like to query with the Administrators, police, FSA etc the basis of McCarthys apparent compensation for loss of his bonus last year with increases elsewhere in his remunration package, and any big salaries and payoffs for him and other recently "resigned" board members at a time when one would have thought they knew the finances and immediate prospects were deteriorating plus the reasonableness of any contractual provisions allowing this leaching of the cash.

Some might also question the whole financial and risk ethics of the UK biotech sector, which increasingly seems to have been set up by a small group of people for their own financial gain. e.g. paying themselves huge salaries before generating profits; and splitting a small number of drugs between several companies and then each taking several management positions in those companies to give themselves multiple remuneration streams, instead of putting all the drugs into just a few companies giving a better chance of success but producing less management jobs for them to milk. At least this is how it seems.

Is your short still open mach6??
AZM have been squeeeeeeeezed for years.
Ceti is probably worth something otherwise why would Takeda,Japan's largest Pharma. co. invest so much money on trials over such a long period of time.
I am so sorry......it should have been very different, but for RP.
