Peaeff I m not convinced that they wilol need anywhere near the 10 million you allude to. As this is being run on a virtual basis and the pipeline is being managed in a number of jpoit ventures or licensing agreements Something nearer 3-5 million would easily see them through the same period.... a promise of more available for further acquisitions would be an additional bonus.

I personally believe that they could very well get funding, and I will be interested, and guided, by the amount they manage to get. Should they get a figure which will see them through for more than 12 months (say £10 mil) it could be a significant pointer to whatever is going on behind the scenes, which for the past two years, despite assurances to the contrary, was not a bloody lot.

I dont think it will be an easy job to get money in the context of whats happened. Would you give more monay?

As for Tim McCarthy, I am so happy he's gone. years of wasted time and cash and still no deal came through.

I dont think Tim did a bad job actually

Got AZM funded at the right time
Got deals for Colal etc.

He always had to remain optimistic. If he hadnt, you'd all still moan.

At the end of the day, I'm not sure anyone could have got a deal for ceti during his reign

How can you seriously believe that any price above the current price will be possible?

They have come to market maybe 4 times and the share price is at 3p. This company is on the back foot.

The news this morning is a positive first step getting rid of that w*nker.

silverback the words "rights issue" were not mentioned. It says "Placing" and the reasoning has aready been stated.

As you and VOW increasingly seem to be the same poster, I suppose I should not expect you to have much of a grasp of corporate financing.

Morning all.

I'm sure you are all delighted with today's news which, let's face it, is about the best news since Takeda elected to do phaseIII. However, will it be too late or, can the new management convince the institutions that the company is worth saving.

As the situation is at present, it is in AZM's favour, that just one year's grace could make a whole lot of difference as to whether it survives or not. The milestones due during that period are key but of course will only be paid should the products meet the required standards. Also in the equation is cetilistat which of course is the product that is causing most of the problems for shareholders, and potential shareholders, alike.

Is the product as good as we have all been led to believe or, is it just a little better than an existing product, the difference being too insignificant for the amount of money needed to take it to market. Can there possibly be a RoW deal now prior to phaseIII results from Japan. Whichever side you lean towards it's a tight call.

Should they achieve a fund raising of around that mark I would then consider it worth a punt in order to recoup some, at least, of my losses. Otherwise I remain out but wish all holders the very best of luck.

Regards PF

mach6 - when on Earth did I 'berate' you?
Sorry matey - cannot even remember your avatar coming out as a short?
What I said was that it was awfully 'risky' to be opening short at this juncture - as if the Timiny copuld be believed we may be on the cusp of something big.

If you take a look over on iii about a month or two ago - I was talking about buying another 100k as a 'bet' however felt that I could get in at or around 3p or less (pure lucky coincidence it is at that now!) - and felt this may become a shorters paradise as felt it 'unlikely' we would hear of anything substantial from the Tim at the agm - the punters over on iii 'bertaed' me for stating this is a good short because there was not too much downside but an awful lot of 'potential' upside.
I thought about it and tended to agree with that prognosis (wrongly) but have not bought or sold either way.

I personally am 'pleased' all of this is out in the public now - as I will take part in placing if indeed there is one - as I wanted the Tim out and would not have continued to invest in azm without that scenario crystallised - if no placing etc we go bust and c'est la vie!!

city chappy, I can safely say ALL of those options listed apart from 3 and 7 are wrong in my opinion.

rights issue above the current price....what planet do you live on.

This company is completely broke and on the verge of bankruptcy/delisting/liquidation.

The one thing you can take from this is that no news will be released before or at the AGM or he would have stayed until then.

On the plus side his departure maybe a condition of funding so a placement may have been agreed.

Deja Vu.

Good to see Tim McCarthy going today. It should help to restore some trust.

Perhaps the large institutional investors like Prudential and Gartmore made his departure a condition of them providing extra cash in the next few weeks.

mm - as long as he does not get compensation package I am happy - we do not want to get embroiled in unfair dismissal proceedings.
I will try and find out soonish what kind of package he is getting because if he is getting one - perhaps we as share-holders can sue the company for his private 'misrepresentations' to us? Unless it can be proven that suddenly the cash position significantly reduced - then I know of at least a couple of share-holders who the Tim clearly stated to - there were no cash problems.
All imho I hasten to add!

Well, every shareholder had the opportunity to vote out part of the Board at the each AGM, but didn't.

Maybe other shareholders, should have followed my example at the last AGM:- publicly ask each Director up for election, "Were you on the Board that appointed Tim as CEO", then pointedly vote against each Director that answered yes! LOL!

Then remind the Board at each opportunity during the AGM of Tim's false promises, plus his promised to be shot.

Why, oh why, did it take the Board so long to get rid of Tim? It was so obvious, so long ago that Tim wasn't the man for the job.

Were the Board blind?

Although I'm happy that Tim has gone, I wanted him sacked, not allowed to resign.

The share price likely to crash through the floor today after this awful news for azm - the Timiny has been looking after the company - during which time he has destroyed shareholder value by 97.5 % - expect the market to be very disppointed such a captain of industry (with fantastic stewardship) has decided to walk!
