Railway crossing warning lights/bells probably affected. Grave safety risk to drivers!

Can anyone think of a recent incident which might make aggreko's product quite topical???

Right this moment, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to predict a dramatic upsurge in demand for standby generators in the US market.

incidentally dont see this company being paticularly biddable for any number of reasons and certainly dont see family disposed in the slightest to relinquishing control despite abysmal performance , do forecast continuing rises however , because so woefully underpriced still , quite easily getting to 180p before f/y end

I too am somewhat bemused by AGK appearing on BBC2 teletext as todays biggest gainer. The price has traded siedways along a 1.38 -1.44 channel for weeks.Perhaps contract news or interims due have given someone in the know the reason to push the price up.Perhaps tomorrows press may give us some insight into todays activity. The Herald in Scotland tends to keep abreast of news in AGK. Wait and see.

ccnp and nashwan123 ; could all the fuss of today simply be explained away by virtue of the fact that agk are due to report in with interim results at the end of this month, share price totally bombed out anyway, recently fallen an additional approx 7% in last 2 weeks (before today)and profits cant possibly be as bad as incoming ceo advised when issuing recent profits warning ? suspicion is ,analysts diary notes have led them to re_evaluate this stock in anticipation and realised good value to be had. will they continue to go up next 2 weeks ? who knows ! i hope so ps fully expect some profits taking tomorrow however in addition to a particularly weak opening.

the way I look at it;

AGK was badly managed with a cherry picking attitude towards a few major bids (ie Olympics) plus opportunism in the US with the power crisis which they seemed to think would go on forever.

Old management blundered into retirement and new management raced trains.

Latest manager, whose provenence does not fill me with hope, has thrown a modest sized kitchen sink into the forecast, taken options and is rattling cages to get out and sell capacity.

SVC has gone from poor to bad to utter failure. They have bailed out of some European ventures but the market is saturated and small firms can aggregate to compete. FD sacked with CEO following when it should have been both of them. Custos still sits on 10% I believe.

The 40% family position in both firms looks to be favouring a bid now they have lost a £2 from Custos on Salvesen and £5+ value on Aggreko a few years ago. From nearly £8 to under £2 must make even the thickest of family memebers realise they are collective deadweight as decision makers in business.

Both sectors are ripe for consolidation but we won't see £2 for SVC or £5 for AGK.

Both shares prove the trading rules we all love to break. Set a stop loss and stick to it. And leave something for someoen else when getting out.

Glad to see someone else looking in. Clearly something is afoot after months of treading water. If this can be sustained beyond today then an RNS must be due.

Nashwan, I dont agree with your well run company statement at all but fully endorse the bombed out bit. the substantial assets could be much better managed. I hear titbits that the family is willing to release its deathgrip on both Aggreko and Salvesen now that they have realised their stupidity.

Holdings in AGK now past 11% and the share is registering as a top price gainer today. They are pretty much bombed out in terms of pricing and still a sitting target IMHO. Fundamentally a sound well run company that has had its recent share of tragedy too.

possibly the price is depressed by new CEO who probably took the opportunity of having no predecessor to contradict his version of events and issued a substantial profit warning.

If new boy cant make a go of it after that, then his judgement will be about as good as a man who races trains to level crossings.................

mate of mine works for them and agrees that all is not well in the States however Far East doing well, he believes that they are undervalued however, reckons a fair price is about 250p, but then again he does like all Aggreko employees hold options at much cheaper than todays price. I would agree with him that its cheap today but I reckon its a long term bet this one however double your money seems quite possible.

Well to all intents and purposes the price did creep up today, albeit settling slightly off at the close. However it is notable that a trade over the asking price went through after close for 208,797 shares @£1.35. So perhaps the creep up has begun!

Like all stocks it's a two way gamble -----UP or DOWN. This company's price and PR is so bombed that it has got to be at its most vulnerable to be picked off.I said press reaction would push it down a tad today; but watch the creep back up from here on in!
