Well it was not long ago that everybody was concerned that ADM would go the same way as Direct Line and smash the dividend. Hasn't happened and, to my mind, management have shown that they can perform in poor markets. Agree with comments about premium increases fixing the profitability issues which leaves the shares as a buy on any further weakness for me.

Disappointing results but its clear that Admiral still have a cost edge over most of their competitors. Will do better from here I suspect. How long for success in the Interational business though?

With such a large increase on the cards I used comparison sites for alternative quotes, and that helped me focus on what level of cover I actually wanted.

I had a claim-free motoring year (I had had three incidents (2 non fault)in the 2 year prior to last year) and my insurance doubled this year.

I have hunted around relentlessly but I can't find anything remotely like my premium for 2020/21 (£340). I am now paying 690.

If I am typical revenues are going to go through the roof this year and the car insurers are going to claw back some lost profitability.

Also, what do folk think of this.. Electric cars .. with all their accident prevention kit will be safer going forwards? yes no? what do folk think

It's a fickle market, results don't seem bad at all to me vs expectations given the economic backdrop!

All insurers have been hit this year by increasing claims costs but I suspect they will all adjust quite quickly. (I got my home insurance renewal through from Aviva recently and they wanted to increase my premium by more than double the inflation rate despite no recent claims.)

Sold my tiny holding just now

took a very small loss but under the circumstances very relieved to be out
will look to go again next week when things are clearer

Do Direct Line still not appear on comparison sites? If so that business model may not produce dividends ;) whereas Admiral in my experience are always favourably placed in comparison site results - which must be a big advantage in the current economic situation. That's how I became a (repeat) Admiral customer and the different business model may well place Admiral in an advantageous position in comparison with Direct Line.

The only crumb of comfort is I sold dlg to buy back in here but is small comfort still sitting on a loss

Heaven help us all if they decide to follow suit

When is the next Admiral update ?... For sure they have similar pressures, but I hope there is no divi cancellation. I expect insurers in any case to fully recover in 2024. GLA

Couldn t resist

Added a few 5 grands worth yesterday on the dip at 2023 level

Not quite the low but close enough

Have been buying insurers across the board last few days

All seem to be walking in rythym at the moment

Holding Phnx lgen dlg
Additionally vod (underwater at moment) but dividend welcome
Had been holding Lloyds but sold this pm on that little spike up
As stated elsewhere will look to buy Abdn starting at 167 might be a long wait but time I have



Healthy cash position watching mng but will wait now until likely after Xmas new year

Abdn have left buy order at 167 but not holding my breath

Still bearish but glimmers of green shoots

Snow is gone and so am I
