24/10/2008 10:54 | can someone please remind me of the cash in the bank here ? tia | value viper
24/10/2008 10:52 | targatarga - no idea what their plans are. I have sold out here and moved into smallcap yielders to get the benefit of rate cuts. I seem to have gone too early, though! Surprised these have fallen so far below cash value but they are not on their own. (Check out VAL thread for more.) | aleman
22/10/2008 19:42 | with close on 4% of messagelabs and a strong dollar cash is king......has anyone here spoken with management regarding future intentions? regards | targatarga
10/10/2008 13:07 | Rohkap - on the other side I see it was announced yesterday that Symantec have bought MessageLabs for USD $ 695m. I think Acal announced in pre-close trading Statement that they had 3.95% stake in latter. A handy gain if I am right. | liveinhope
01/10/2008 18:54 | Looks like an unpleasant £5mm hit in the second half of the year if associated company Westech enters insolvency. Westech have insurance covering $13.5mm of the lost receivable balance (less than half of balance) but this will only be paid by the credit insurer after Westech has commenced legal actions to retrieve debt and 90 days have elapsed. This customer represented over 50% of debtors so dont see much of a future for Westech. I just hope Acal dont do anything stupid with their cash pile. Could really do with sorting out the director situation as well. Wonder whether ex-directors are preparing a bid? | rohkap
30/9/2008 20:44 | wouldn't be surprised if another bid materialises soon! | targatarga
30/9/2008 13:50 | announcement expected under circumstances... | targatarga
16/9/2008 15:00 | I wonder if they will buy trading companies. The way things are going they will be able to buy bits off receivers for peanuts. | aleman
16/9/2008 00:06 | Thing that amazes me about ACL is how a relatively small purchase or sale can move the price and the spread balloons regards | rainmaker
29/8/2008 15:58 | Since appointment of new FD shares have gone Northwards. | liveinhope
29/8/2008 15:08 | Boing. Never stay put these shares. | aleman
27/8/2008 21:30 | Aleman - unfortunately the 250p bid didn't materialise as expected. Let's hope when the city folk get back after hols fireworks will resume! | targatarga
27/8/2008 15:29 | Dips below cash value don't seem to last long. | aleman
18/8/2008 10:25 | NAV £100m NAV ex-goodwill £47m Cash £35m Net Cash £25m Net current Assets £39m Market Cap £29m @ 112p | aleman
18/8/2008 09:19 | considering the market cap this is an extremely thinly traded stock! reckon a risky buy of 10 shares could maybe move these 10% on a quiet day... | targatarga
31/7/2008 12:28 | any chartists out there with an opinion? regards | targatarga
30/7/2008 10:23 | Interesting situation. They say the plan is that the divi should be covered by earnings - ie. 14.5p on continuing activities last year. What's reasonable for this year? 10p? That's still a yield of around 10%. Against a MCap of £28m, NTA is £47m and net cash (cash - debt) £26m. Looks good, but the market doesn't seem impressed by their intention to find opportunities for their cash - did they think of returning it to shareholders? I suppose there could be a hostile bid, now that friendly talks have stopped. | jonwig
30/7/2008 09:38 | Yortis - thanks mate, I'm hanging on as 105p is far to cheap... | targatarga
30/7/2008 09:02 | Ridiculous, can only buy 1 share online, looks like someone trying to get a big fill, as I can sell 5000 shares online, no problems. Targatarga, if you want to sell there a big buyer for your lot. | yortis
29/7/2008 17:16 | Aleman - all puzzling! the way the price is moving there's some bad news brewing...I know if you were to try and sell x thousand you'd struggle to get anywhere near the bid.... | targatarga
29/7/2008 12:56 | Why are they still giving out EPT notices if offer talks have ended? | aleman
29/7/2008 12:52 | They are quite a big holding for me. How far below cash or current assets should a company get discounted? 1/3rd below NAV ex-goodwill is just plain daft unless some very large losses are expected. | aleman
29/7/2008 12:44 | Aleman - this is now my biggest holding and it hurts....don't think it should take much for these to rise....regards | targatarga
24/7/2008 15:41 | I see the remuneration report and share incentive plan got more than 10% voted against. It's about time shareholders started standing against excessively generous incentive plans. | aleman
24/7/2008 14:34 | I did ignore the goodwill! Goodwill takes NAV to 380p - LOL! | aleman |
