31/10/2007 16:12 | Hi Jon, I'm not tempted as in the written reports, management mentioned slow lead times with new products. When I looked at ABU, who are as cheap as chips, I just couldn't pull the trigger on buying a distributor. Have you looked at ERT? I am digging on this one right now - even watched Basil Brush on CBBC yesterday!! | simon gordon
31/10/2007 16:02 | I looked at this a long time ago, and missed out on a decent rise, caught by Aleman. The breakdown in the last FY results (to 31/03/07) shows the rump had: T/O .... £159m EBIT ... £6.5m PBT .... £9.6m Debt was £17.3m, and they now have £41m of new cash. Value at 8 × EBIT + New Cash - Debt = £75.7m A reasonable prospect, a bit less than yours, Simon. When it moves, it's fast! | jonwig
30/10/2007 12:07 | RT, Looks like they should be able to do around 6m to 7m in PBT. Remaining businesses must be worth 40m to 70m. Total value = 70m to 100m. Market Cap. 60m Upside potential = 50%??? | simon gordon
30/10/2007 11:31 | Me too...but it looks like they'll be left with net cash of around £30m and no clear plan for what to do with it. Market cap less than £60m. But what are the remaining businesses worth ? Let's see what thursday brings | retiringtype
30/10/2007 11:09 | I had a look but gave up as it was too complicated!!! | simon gordon
30/10/2007 10:50 | Ahead of Thursday's interims, has anyone got any thoughts on the potential value of this company after the disposal of IT solutions and the profit warnings for the other 2 divisions? | retiringtype
17/4/2007 13:07 | Sold the remainder of my holding here today. I think recession is coming which may mean the rating is generous. | aleman
03/4/2007 15:59 | Two price monitoring extensions in the auction. Price seems to be up. Not seen two extensions before. | aleman
26/3/2007 09:00 | Parts is significantly below previous year and IT above expectations. IT is bigger. The overall figures are in line. Seems reasonable enough. It would be normal to mark shares down a touch since too much change can be a problem. Modest growth everywhere would have been better. | aleman
26/3/2007 07:15 | Looking at earlier RNS Number:6484T issued today answers the question why parts services down. Will be interesting to see how market takes news today. | liveinhope
26/3/2007 07:08 | Hard to know what to make of trading announcement today. Mixed news. I hate the phrase "significantly lower" about parts services. I wonder what has caused this? Price deflation? "LONDON (AFX) - Technology distributor Acal PLC said it expects its full-year pretax profit from continuing activities to improve over the prior year, in line with market expectations. The company said its electronic components division is showing an improved financial performance, particularly in continental Europe, although sales and profits at the parts services unit will be "significantly lower" than the previous year. Acal said although its IT solutions division's markets remain competitive, the unit should see an improved performance compared with the previous year, ahead of budget expectations. The company said it expects to publish its full-year results on June 4." | liveinhope
19/3/2007 17:13 | Aleman - thanks for last post. Very helpful. | liveinhope
19/3/2007 16:45 | No message. | liveinhope
19/3/2007 16:45 | RNS today inicates holding now by below: As of 15 March 2007 ACAL plc Number of Percent of Shares Outstanding Capital Group International, Inc. ("CGII") holdings 1,041,115 3.941% Holdings by CGII Management Companies and Funds: Capital Guardian Trust Company 580,722 2.198% Capital International Limited 420,533 1.592% Capital International S.A. 15,900 0.060% Capital International, Inc. 23,960 0.091% Anyone know much about these people? | liveinhope
16/2/2007 13:18 | The pub? While I was fairly confident we would hit 450p, I am less so about further progress as I can see some consolidation from here. The shares seem worth retaining for the yield but also there are opportunities elsewhere. I have taken some of a very healthy profit. The proceeds of this and a TTG sale today have gone to increasing my holdings in SDM and WAGN, which are on much more modest ratings based on forecasts, after recent wobbles. | aleman
15/2/2007 10:17 | Well we've reached your 450p aleman, where to next? | mrphil
13/2/2007 14:04 | Looks like going to next resistance around 450p. | aleman
13/2/2007 13:57 | Aleman - sadly not all time high but pleasing moving in right direction again. Have consisently paid good dividend. Check out | liveinhope
06/2/2007 11:10 | Hi, liveinhope. Sorry about the lack of response. Just got back from a pleasant week in Gran Canaria. I have little interest in institutional holdings. They make just as many mistakes as private investors and their funds underperform the main indices when reinvested income is included, mostly since they trade too much as they feel obliged to. As the UK economy nears its peak, capital goods are booming which is good for Acal. Couple that with a strengthening European economy and I think there is more mileage to come for the shares in the next year or two. | aleman
02/2/2007 14:33 | Aleman - encouraging addituons to share register as per recent RNS's. See Abacus (ABU)who operate in some related product fields issued encouraging trading news very recently, think this was on Wednesday. Is demand picking up out there in the market place? | liveinhope
17/1/2007 16:44 | ADVFN seems to show these swinging quite wildly but the actual price doesn't bear any resemblance to the supposed movement. How can it suggest a 14.5p upward movement today when the price has actually hardly moved from yesterday's close? | mrphil
22/12/2006 12:35 | Strange - ADFVN had these at 414p from 12:20 to close whereas Mon£yAM had them at 404.5p. Either way that is £4 broken and still yielding over 5%. Merry Christmas. | aleman |
