30/11/2009 21:16 | CEO buy has to be an encouraging sign. nri, but i tip this co for corporate activity in the future. so illiquid but there is a bid to the stock now and chart needs no comment. | value viper
27/11/2009 15:33 | 125,000 buy at 135p as reported today is encouraging. | liveinhope
27/11/2009 12:49 | Hi Guys Sorry not been on here for some time. Agree the results are not very exciting, the business is stablising but not pushing forward aggressively. The Nottingham site will be undergoing a revamp to retune its high-end "enterprise" offering to key OEMs and TPMs, they have also taken on Derek Smith (former SCC) as the Enterprise Director which should help keep focus on this area. The loss of the Torex contract may not be as bad as it first appears, until recently it has been losing the company money, and Torex or Phoenix will have to buy the stock back off Acal as part of the original agreement. It does mean that Acal now has some good experience in retail which they can use to win other business. MD | marketdevil
25/11/2009 21:33 | On the surface another "dull" set of results. Could not even report dividend cut-off date right in first instance. Loss making and cut in H1 divi. Torex contract lost to Phoenix IT Group plc.(PNX). Notwithstanding this shares ticked northwards hinting at, IMHO, that they will be taken out by others soon. Keep the faith. | liveinhope
25/11/2009 08:50 | This is probably as good as could have been expected. This bit is key imv : "The Group has been operating at around breakeven during September and October. Group orders during October and the first half of November showed a continuing improvement and a positive book to bill ratio. In the electronics division, sales have stabilised as indicated in our July Interim Management Statement, and we expect sales to increase towards the end of the second half as the improved order rate flows through. The manufacturing PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) data for UK, France and Germany show an improvement with monthly sequential growth, which supports this view. " | value viper
21/11/2009 23:58 | See Gartmore steadily stake building. Hope Sir John Curry eventually gets acceptable exit price for his long term investment in his "baby". Fully merits so. Has provided employment for many over the years. | liveinhope
19/11/2009 19:47 | tipped in "Shares" mag today - buy pre results | value viper
03/11/2009 09:08 | Just had a quick read of circular. Optilas is currently loss making but things are apparantly picking up. Acal management are hoping to integrate quickly and save money on admin etc. Hope the language barrier isn't a problem....regards | targatarga
29/10/2009 16:16 | chunky prints and moving up | value viper
29/10/2009 16:14 | they liked it then, looks like someone earlier picked up the 15k sharesw i offloaded over the last 2 weeks. regards | targatarga
29/10/2009 07:19 | BFI Optilas That's a good operation & we can believe in about £3-4m of operational synergies within 18 months. So ............. it could be £5-6m per annum of ptp for a total cost of not far north of £10m. Looks a good deal - but what will the market think? We're still cash rich even after almost increasing in size by 60% | electronica
19/10/2009 19:29 | Value Viper - That explains why shares have gone northwards. As Acal gets "slimmer", (had 4 divisions from memory), should become more attractive to any acquiring concern who can extract more value. | liveinhope
19/10/2009 16:05 | Gartmore have grabbed the Capital Group stake it seems ! Nothing dumped in the mkt. | value viper
15/10/2009 11:35 | liveinhope - whoops, if you read my post you'll see it was actually rhl i brought. Personally been trying to offload a few of these for others mnr etc. regards tt | targatarga
15/10/2009 09:58 | taggatarga - UKREG announcement today seems to indicate Capital Group International, Inc. have divested their entire holding so that will explain trade of other day. The question of the moment is now who is holding those shares given what you paid for your last trade. If Market makers, then surprised it was reported on this thread shares were hard to come by. No doubt time will reveal all. | liveinhope
14/10/2009 21:49 | liveinhope - sorry, i only look at the advfn trades. I'm sure those with 20 screens all live from trading floors around the world sometimes miss the obvious. back to my lager.....[very good luck for tomorrow] tt | targatarga
14/10/2009 08:56 | taratarga - thanks, still can not see on LSE last 5 trade bit but no worries. Hope your investment proves profitable and one day dividends will return to previous levels or better still the company is acquired on favourable terms. | liveinhope
14/10/2009 08:42 | liveinhope if you go to the rhl trades and you go to 0845am theres a 15k at 134. It was a phone deal and my broker had to fight for stock. Hope this hel;ps tt | targatarga
14/10/2009 08:32 | targatarga - when will your transaction show in list of trades? Whenever I do "O" transactions they show immediately. Just curious to learn more about how trade side of market works but only have basic ADVFN package so guess missing out on quite a bit. | liveinhope
14/10/2009 08:26 | Yesterday's trade was type NT. This is not clearly listed in LSE trade types but seems to some sort of negotiated trade? Is it a comnination of below? 'N' = Non Protected Portfolio A non-protected portfolio transaction or a fully disclosed portfolio transaction. Normally a transaction of a number of stocks dealt with by one market maker at an agreed discount to the market price. 'T' = If reporting a single protected transaction. A protected transaction occurs when a large order is going through the market. The buyer (or seller) may wish to keep the order anonymous from the rest of the market as the size of the order could greatly alter the price of the stock. With a protected transaction, the dealer will put the trade through in small quantities rather than knock the whole order out in one hit. The entire transaction is reported once the deal is completed. The LSE is notified at the start and at the end of the transaction. However, the market as a whole isn't told until the end, thus the order is protected. | liveinhope
14/10/2009 07:57 | just brought 15k rhl on a t15, i held chieftain for years from 16p - 220p what a rollercoaster...a bit like these really...tt | targatarga
14/10/2009 07:54 | At the moment Acal are the 8th largest rising share. Never thought I would see that in my time. Volumes today are low but as they streamline the business then it should become more attrative to others. Well that is the hope. | liveinhope
14/10/2009 07:25 | value -i got in last may when previous management guy was trying to raise funding for a 250p bid. Usually these only really move with inspired/insider buying[paranoid i know] regards | targatarga
14/10/2009 07:22 | looks like the big trade has done something | value viper |
