A strangely late trading update this morning, at just after 07:30.

Revenue down a bit on consensus, operating profit in line, still plenty of cash and a fairly upbeat output statement, with orders exceeding revenues.

Also, a new business, ABD Solutions, that will retrofit autonomous driverless technology to off-road fleets, with mining, defence, agriculture and material handling specifically targeted.

Recent falls…Can̵7;t be the Founder retiring, he’s been of ill health for a while, interesting to hear what the analysts have to say about the future dynamics of the Company.

I suggest the share price problem is the evolution of the board over the last two or three years, particularly long standing members retiring.

I have no reason to doubt the new team is not performing but upcoming results will have to be progressive even though Covid affected.

I wondered whether this was time to add but decided not for the moment. My concern is the yield. If you view this as an R&D company then the game is different , but at some point the value must come from it's dividends. Maybe I am optimistic to look for a substantive rise in the last 5 yrs , but even with the share price drop it is still P/E of 77.

ABDP hit 860 when the pandemic hit, it clawed back to nearly 2500 just prior to H1 results but since then has given up over half that recovery.

Aprils H1 results clearly didn't help, minimal news flow since then. FY results due in November. I am a little concerned as to what the market is telling us to expect.

Weak share price recently.

Torn between whether there is some bad news about to get announced or if an excellent buying opportunity !!

Gone for the latter with a top up of 250 shares this morning.

Unusually large number of reasonably big trades today.

If the past is anything to go by (speaking as a shareholder for just over 4 years) we could be in for a reasonable rise in the share price over the next few weeks.

In line with expectations, which have already been dampened down considerably, when a lot of companies are delivering beats, and something of a lukewarm outlook too. Not surprised at the price action today.

I'm still holding all mine, however. Cars are selling again and testing spend will kick back up again accordingly. I also believe there is a good chance that this company will be acquired in the next few years.

Investors sell on the news, it’s normal in these markets.
