24/4/2007 09:17 | Interesting that MMs have 2 sales of 100k each and 97k yet raise the offer. IMHO further confirmation that someone out there is showing clear intention to sweep up the sales and buy as many as they can get hold of. If you want to sell so take your profit and lets see how big the potential suitor/buyers appetite is. They are not having mine. I want at least 6 pounds a share. Indicators are showing a down turn because of the sells but I'm sure will turn Northwards again once the contra sales become buys. | alwaysbanking
24/4/2007 09:13 | Astra Zeneca has the money to take out SR Pharma easily if it becomes interested but will Pfizer or Glaxo allow it? AB Latest Press article AstraZeneca buys US rival for $15.2bn By Richard Blackden and agencies Last Updated: 1:33am BST 24/04/2007 Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has stepped up its search for new drugs with a $15.2bn (£7.6bn) offer for US rival MedImmune, a deal that hands it flu vaccines and an antiviral medication for babies. AstraZeneca is paying $58 a share for MedImmune, a premium of more than 20pc to MedImmune closing price on Friday. The US biotechnology company put itself up for sale after pressure from shareholders. The UK company has suffered setbacks with four experimental products in the last year and is reliant on its top three drugs, Nexium, Seroquel for schizophrenia and the Crestor cholesterol medicine, for the majority of its profit. MedImmune makes the FluMist influenza medicine, and the Synagis treatment for infant respiratory infections. Synagis, MedImmune's biggest product, has been a success for the US company - generating $1.1bn in revenue last year. Sales of the drug increased 9pc to 10pc in the first quarter. David Brennan, chief executive of AstraZeneca, said: "This acquisition represents a transformational step to deliver our biologics strategy sooner than anticipated. It creates a leading fully integrated biologics and vaccines business with critical mass and enhances AstraZeneca's R&D science base through which we will deliver a stronger product pipeline." Including net cash of about $340m, the purchase price is about $15.6bn, AstraZeneca said today. | alwaysbanking

24/4/2007 05:30 | the EGM was brought forward,as things were moving quickly..qouting ross. a short time after the egm[probably within 2 weeks]we will see who has bought the stake[s]. they will also be paying a premium to the market price.thus .you would expect the sp,to go to at least the price they pay. sp's don't go up in a straight line ,for sure.but surely the time to start knocking a few out[if you are so inclined]is when the stakes have been issued. and not before. | graham browns dad

24/4/2007 00:27 | Buzzzzzzzz nothing goes up in a straight line without some correction. I certainly don't always think it's going to fall back, otherwise I would not be holding.....just realistic. HOUSEPRICES you are absolutely correct with your old market adage together with your T20 traders comment. Having said all that the signs ARE fantastic,so any dip, if it comes could be a good chance to top up. Good luck all and thanks Buzzzzzzz...I probably would not have got back in when I did if wasn't for your forthright comments which made me see sense, thus I would have missed this recent run. 23/4/2007 23:49 | gbd thanks for that, bzzzzzzzzzzzzz, i'm not a ramper, just a realist,i'm not selling, no intention of.But just remember that old market 'adage' better to travel than to arrive!! Lot of punters in this! Lot's of T20 trades, not always the best sign. good luck all, including me! | houseprices
23/4/2007 21:57 | Geoff You always think its going to fall back! 10% of equity being issued for major pharma's to take a stake, it dosn't get more positive than that IMHO | ![]() buzzzzzzzz
23/4/2007 20:17 | a major pharma or pharmas, are about to take a stake in sr.why? chairman has just bought 100k shares why? when pharma[s] take stake will they be happy with that?..or is it just the start? i believe this has a long way to go yet. | graham browns dad

23/4/2007 19:15 | I can't help feeling we could drop back after the EGM to 75-80p or even lower if we do not get some positive comment to support this recent rise in the share price I expect you guys will shoot me down for even suggesting such a thing, but it is possible after such massive rise since November. I am still very long in SPA as I am in AZM and am expecting great things from both companies over the coming months....so I am still very bullish. If I am right I will be adding. | ![]() geoffmanana
