This is a no brainer buy next week on a T20 or T25 and then with some brokers you can do a roll for the same lenght of time soyou are actually holding the stock between 40-50 working days by which time this stock will be NORTH of £1
We need this stockto be above £1 so that the PHARMA has to buy stock at a HIGHER PRICE.

I thought somebody would suggest T20's I'm with TD Waterhouse and they would do them for me but i am waiting to exchange contracts where upon the sale would become legaly binding, then i would know for sure i had the option of either selling on or before settlement day or pay for them.

Until contracts are exchanged buyers could pull out.

ps. I appreeciate your thought.

pps. I'm itching to buy anyway as i don't think they will pull out but you never know.

Letter confirms all going to plan. Yet another major Pharma wants to take a equity stake, very few shares floating around ask the MMs.Hence SR needs ok from shareholders to issue more shares to basically sell onto a Pharma at a premium. 80p northwards.if they tried to buy in the market the mms would struggle to fill the position and what prices would they have to pay.!!??.This share still has a long way to go if it does not get taken out on the way.

I certainly did not take it personally Mike, but you ARE right.Your general observation was spot on.
My first reaction was DILUTION.
I am gererally not too bad at lateral thinking, but this might have tested Edward de Bono himself!
Glad to be back in.....thanks fellas.

Good luck with the house 3frog.
Won't your broker let you do a T20 or T25 whereby you do not part with your money until settlement day 3frog?
That's what I have done with my purchase last Friday. It gives me the option of taking profits, cutting loses along the way or taking them up.
A lot of people think that when someone does a T20 etc it is purely a punt that will have to be closed down.I think it gives you more scope.
Good luck
Geoff

Several posters were querying what the equity was going to be used for, raising cash for an aquisition perhaps.

This letter gives us all the answer.
We have all been waiting for a deal with a big pharma and here is confirmation that it is not far off, however he states that they are in such discussions with several pharma's a little competition is always good!

$64 question at what price will the equity be issued? Hopefully at a decent premium!!

Over to you!!!!

What do you mean What is your point Buzz I suggest that you read the shareholders letter properly that is if you have got a brain.
It says that it is raising equity so that a MAJOR PHARMA can make a small equity INVESTMENT,
When the letter is properly digested this share will fly.

This is the principal part of the statement:

'The Group is in discussions with a number of major pharmaceutical companies with a view to granting licences to areas of the Group's technology. It is a common feature of these deals for the major pharma company to make a small equity investment in the Group as well as taking a licence'.

See above for the detail from someone more IT competent than I

Struggled with scanner copying and pasting emailing etc etc but could not paste the relevant part in the letter to shareholders.

However what it says is that they are negotiating with a number of MAJOR pharmas for licensing deals for different SPA products and that it is common for such major pharmas to take a small equity stake in the (target) company as well as taking on the license.

What does this mean to shareholders? In my opinion it suggests that the MAJOR pharma OR PHARMAS taking an equity stake will add the highest level of credibility to SPA's technology as it will be 'reasonably' assumed that they had done their research and believe SPA's technology has 'legs'

What else? Well, if it does have blockbuster potential the major parma OR PHARMAS will be in pole position if it comes to any further corporate action involving SPA for example a full BID for the company. Thats about it, but albeit a bit late on the scene looks pretty exciting stuff even in the short term!

Sellers on Friday may come to regret......

All in my opinion, dyor

30 March 2007

To Shareholders and, for information only, to the holders of options under the Company's Share
Option Schemes.
Dear Shareholder
The Group has today announced its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2006,
together with my Report on the progress in the year. This is available at the company's website
(www.srpharma.com) and I recommend that you take this opportunity to read this latest
information.
The Board has decided to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting of the shareholders, formal
notice of which is given below, for the purpose of conducting two specific pieces of business.
Authority to issue shares
The Group is in discussions with a number of major pharmaceutical companies with a view to
granting licences to areas of the Group's technology. It is a common feature of these deals for the
major pharma company to make a small equity investment in the Group as well as taking a licence.
At present the Board has no authority to issue shares in such circumstances without seeking specific
shareholder approval and this could hinder negotiations. Consequently we are seeking shareholder
approval to issue new shares equivalent to up to 10% of the current issued share capital to a third
party (or parties).
A new image for the future
In order to reflect the Group's core focus and position in the RNAi sector,an approach that seeks to
"silence"disease relevant genes, the Board is proposing that it is now an appropriate time to create
a new corporate identity for the Group to one more attuned to its current activity. The proposed
new name of your Company is:
SILENCE THERAPEUTICS plc.
The Board recommends that you vote in favour of all of the resolutions, as the directors
intend to do in respect of their own beneficial holding of ordinary shares which amount
to 374,861 ordinary shares representing approximately 0.33 per cent. of the voting rights
exercisable at the extraordinary general meeting.
Yours sincerely
Iain Ross
Chairman
