23/12/2008 21:58 | Point to be aware of - for hopefully a small number who may not have yet accepted the offer. My understanding is that once share goes unconditional if you have not accepted the offer you will not receive your cash within 2 weeks of offer going unconditional but will have to wait for ONGC to make payment whenever they wish which could be months. Perhaps others might confirm this. | peter anthony
23/12/2008 21:10 | Its crazy because their long will do them no good if they have withheld their vote. Perhaps we will hear of some shorts closing tomorrow ? | debbiegee
23/12/2008 20:28 | Nobody knows niceyman1 and tomorrow is only 1/2 day trading, so all I see is an upward shift, not fireworks. | shiny1000
23/12/2008 20:15 | monkey51 a C denotes bargain with a conditition shown on t10 20 or 25s but it could be another condition. Please explain what you mean about paying £10 ? If he has not bought assented stock it is not too late for him to tender. Perhaps anybody buying now ought to ask if the stock is assented or can be tendered. I agree with you t20ing is risky but when /if the time is right they will appear here in their droves! It certainly is a big risk to take with the extra costs if he has no reason to feel confident that the deal will go through. He will make a huge amount without parting with a penny if he wins and lose a huge amount if he loses ! | debbiegee
23/12/2008 20:15 | thanks jac1104 for posting. Fully agree with your conclusion ! In future I shall not touch any investment, where Indians have their hands inside. Capital has a very good rememberance about credibilty risks ... | sailor9
23/12/2008 20:13 | I think tomorrow we will see some fireworks with the shareprice either up or down. Insiders are bound to know or have a good idea of the chances of attaining 90% by tomorrow i.m.o | niceyman1

23/12/2008 19:10 | Debbiegee, whoever got the trade on t20 will be required to pay £10 in 20 days times, so can't see why anyone would do that. Unless of course they know that whoever they bought it from has already tendered. All in all pretty risky if you ask me and personally wouldn't do it. | monkey51
23/12/2008 17:31 | Sinopec wraps up Tanganyika takeover By Upstream staff China's Sinopec said it had wrapped up its acquisition of Canada's Tanganyika Oil Company after taking control of 95% of the company's stock under a takeover bid launched in October. Sinopec said its Mirror Lake Oil & Gas Company would exercise its right to compulsory acquisition of the remaining shares in Tanganyika after taking control of 60.6 million shares. Tanganyika's stock is expected to be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange tomorrow. Tanganyika has projects in Syria. Sinopec has announced today the completion of their takeover of Tanganyika for $2billion dollars - a deal agreed in September when oil prices were at $100 a barrel, a deal of similar size to Imperial of which they bid for after losing Imperial to ONGC and a deal of which ONGC also bid for but lost out on a lower bid - a deal the Chinese state honoured, a deal the Chinese state wrapped up double quick after Chinese state approvals were obtained on December 19th, I bet your bottom dollar that Tanganyika's Board of Directors and shareholders are thanking their lucking stars that Sinopec won the bid over ONGC after following ONGC's shameful and shameless antics over Imperial Energy - shame on you ONGC, shame on you! | jac1104
