I didn't see the exact size of the order, but the uncrossing trade was for 118K shares. So £1.2m worth. Someone was keen to close that position clearly, but no problem with finding buyers, and a blue day. I think this looks quite promising, I will be hitting the accept button my my (non-ISA) holding tomorrow.

Interesing action in the closing auction, price kept creeping up and up, hitting 1060p, then took a huge dive in the last 5 seconds to close at 1010p.

Well we don't know the outcome but its safe to say that today the market thinks we are more likely to complete the deal than it did last week

A: The law!

Section 997 of part 28 of the 2006 Companies Act (referenced by the offer document) states that the Share offer doesnt apply to shares held by associates of the offeror (presumably including the offeror itself). So my interpretation is that shares held by ONGC and associates shares are not treated as part of the offer for which 90% acceptance must be received.
