Russian marines seize Ukrainian fortifications in Kursk Region (VIDEO)

Kiev’s forces have been driven out of strongholds in the border zone, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said

Russian marines have recaptured fortified positions used by Ukrainian forces in the border area of Russia’s Kursk Region, the Ministry of Defense (MOD) announced on Thursday.

According to the MOD, marines belonging to the Pacific Fleet from the ‘North’ group have driven Ukrainian troops out of an administrative building in one of the settlements in the Kursk border area.

The MOD statement says the continuous monitoring of the area with UAVs had helped to “quickly detect the main resistance centers and drive the enemy out of their strongholds.”

The marines attacked from several sides at once, the MOD said, adding that the Ukrainian forces had fired back with machine guns and grenade launchers, but were unable to hold out.

A video released by the ministry shows around 30 Ukrainian personnel retreating from the building, leaving behind dead fighters and abandoning weapons.

The MOD said the marines from the ‘North’ group would continue to follow the assault groups and consolidate their positions in the liberated territories.

Kiev launched its incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region in early August, seizing the town of Sudzha and several nearby villages. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky claimed the operation was part of a “victory plan,” which was intended to strengthen Kiev’s hand in potential talks with Moscow. Since mid-September, the Russian military has been conducting counteroffensive operations and has regained control of multiple towns and villages.

On Wednesday, the MOD announced that Russian troops have liberated two more villages, Daryino and Plekhovo.

According to the latest MOD estimates, Ukraine has lost more than 40,000 troops during the hostilities in Kursk Region, while sustaining heavy materiel losses in the offensive. Up to 236 tanks, 175 infantry armored vehicles, 123 armored personnel carriers, 1,251 armored combat vehicles, 308 artillery pieces, 1,115 vehicles, 40 multiple rocket system launchers, including US-made 11 HIMARS and six MLRS, have been destroyed there, the MOD said.

Trump tariffs to have 'insignificant effect' on UK economy

While the UK's decision to leave the EU is helpful in terms of damage limitation from any US tariffs, forecasts of a small impact are mainly down to the fact that two thirds of our exports there are in services and not goods.

Foreign Companies Think Twice About Pouring Billions Into US EVs As Trump Return Looms

South Korean companies are reconsidering investments into building electric vehicle (EV) battery plants in the United States, according to Bloomberg. Some South Korean companies have slowed or halted the construction of some U.S. battery plants over concerns about slackening demand for EVs and President-elect Donald Trump’s impending return to the White House, according to Bloomberg. Trump’s proposed cuts to tax credits that have benefitted EV makers are causing some Korean companies to rethink their $54 billion U.S. investment plans.

You couldn't make it up, deliveries of cars people DO want, held up in order to fulfill government made-up-rules of cars, people DON'T want. & it's only 2024, there's 'at least' 5 more years of this.

Car makers 'withholding deliveries of new petrol and diesel models until January' to hit 2024 EV sales targets

Robert Forrester, Vertu Motors chief exec, said new models are being held back
Car makers are 'rationing by the back door' by delaying available deliveries

This is because car companies are desperate to avoid penalties for failing to register a 22 per cent share of EVs in 2024, which is the binding threshold set out by the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate introduced this year.

Failure to meet the 22 per cent target can result in fines of £15,000 per vehicle short of the required threshold.

Zelensky wrong to think that Biden corruption link gives him impunity to do what he wants

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that the scale of corruption between the US and Ukraine is truly astonishing

MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky believes that he is untouchable because he helped the Biden family in their corruption schemes, but he is gravely mistaken, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.

"[Vladimir] Zelensky hopes that [the United States] will continue to provide him with money and weapons <…> and that he's good because of the monstrous corrupt deals he was involved in with [US President Biden’s] family," Zakharova said speaking at a news briefing.

"Let’s also keep in mind his [Zelensky’s] outsized ego, which he cannot shed. This is the foundation of his hopes… But he is completely wrong," the diplomat continued.

Zakharova also pointed out that the scale of corruption between the US and Ukraine is truly astonishing.

"The Kiev regime has been involved in corruption schemes of monstrous scale and illegality, transferring money from the West, particularly from the US," she said. "Not simply transferring, but channeling these Western funds via Ukraine so that they can go back in the pockets of those who allocated this money in the first place."

Retreating Ukraine Gives Russian Army Room For Maneuvers

Support SouthFront

Despite the critical threat to its entire defense in the Donbass, Kiev refuses negotiations, betting on escalation.

On the night of December 11th, the Ukrainian military launched another attack on the Russian rear regions. This time, Ukrainian forces reportedly used missiles, probably supplied by NATO. An industrial facility was damaged in the city of Taganrog. According to the local authorities, there were no casualties. Any details about the target and its damage were not immediately revealed.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported the interception of 14 Ukrainian UAVs in the border Bryansk region. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out at one of the local fuel depots but it was soon eliminated.

No attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to inflict damage to the Russian rear infrastructure, including with NATO missiles, can change the power balance on the frontlines. The Russian army is already approaching the border of the Dnepropetrovsk region, where it will find the room for maneuvers in the poorly fortified field areas.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian troops have only 10 kilometers left to pass through Ukrainian defense. As a result of successful offensive operations south of the city, they repelled Ukrainian forces from the strategically important villages of Novotroitskoe and Shevchenko and largely expanded their bridgehead on the southern flank of Pokrovsk.

Together with military strongholds, Kiev is losing precious mines that supported the economy of the entire country and were offered to Zelensky’s British patrons.

Ukrainian defense is being ground down in and around Kurakhovo. Russian forces are already in control of the local grain elevator, which turned into an important stronghold to assure the further Russian offensive in the city.

The Russian army is in control of almost the entire central district. Ukrainian forces are retreating to the western outskirts. Reports from the battlefield confirm the withdrawal of key units of the Ukrainian 46th brigade from advanced positions in an attempt to strengthen long-term defense at industrial facilities such as the Kurakhovskaya HPP, the pipe plant and the Elektrostal plant west of the city.

Meanwhile, Russian forces from the northern bank of the water reservoir launched an assault on Dachnoe. To the south, Ukrainian defense along the Sukhie Yaly River is crumbling. The large Ukrainian grouping in and south of Kurakhovo was already cut from permanent military supplies and it may soon lose the last moody country roads to escape from the cauldron.

The Ukrainian invasion in the Kursk region has already turned into disaster and may end with another cauldron. According to a preliminary report, Russian forces crossed the border and entered the Sumy region in the south near Plekhovo and in the north near Vladimirovka. Russian advance highlights the weakness of Ukrainian border defense in the war-torn region, strategically important for Zelensky’s regime.

Britain an economic basket case:

UK public debt is running at not far off 100% of GDP. That is nearly £100,000 per household. The interest bill on this alone will cost us nearly £90 billion this year, more than we spend on education and nearly three times what we spend on defence.

What is particularly galling about this state of affairs is the extent to which arguably one of the single most important factors in causing it seems to get no airtime at all. That critical factor is the parlous state of the UK’s domestic stock market.

A huge part of the UK’s current economic malaise has to do with the extent to which we have effectively eviscerated our stock market since the 1990s.

This is incredibly poorly understood by most of the population and by the vast majority of our political class. So much so that the topic wasn’t even an electoral issue this year.

To give some evidence for this position:

In 2007, the UK had more than 3,250 companies listed on the London Stock Market. Today there are fewer than 1,800.

All too few people are aware that this has happened, even a good number of finance professionals and journalists, and seemingly vanishingly few of our politicians.

A generation ago the UK stock market was 10% of the value of the global stock market. Today it is 3-4% depending on how you calculate it.

Ukraine Resumes Missile Strikes

Support SouthFront

On the night of December 11th, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched missile and drone strikes on the Russian rear regions. Some of them reached their targets.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Russian air defense intercepted and destroyed 14 Ukrainian UAVs during the night. All of them targeted the border Bryansk region. The local authorities confirmed that as a result of one of the strikes, a fire broke out at an industrial facility and it was soon eliminated. According to local reports, the target was one of the local fuel depots.

At night explosions thundered in the city of Taganrog in the southern Rostov region. Sirens sounded in the region. The local authorities reported that as a result of missile strike an industrial facility was damaged and 14 cars burned down in the parking lot nearby. No casualties were reported as a result of the attack.

There is no information about the type of the missiles and the exact target of the strikes.

Probably, the Armed Forces of Ukraine resumed pinpoint strikes with NATO missiles on the Russian rear infrastructure.

On December 10th, Ukrainian forces attacked the outskirts of the town of Enakiyevo in the DPR with long-range precision weapons. According to the footage, the Ukrainian military used NATO missiles with cluster munitions. The local residents were evacuated. The head of the DPR confirmed the attack but the target was not revealed.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine also continue attempts to reach their targets in the Crimean peninsula. On December 10th, from 10.40 to 11.10 a.m. local time, three Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed over the Black Sea by Russian air defense.
