The total stand alone restaurants remaining following disposals and conversions will be approx 200.

I mentioned a higher number last week (I had incorrectly counted integrated restaurants in the total).

* integrated restaurants v stand alone.

The breakfast is central to the PI offer, of which WTB is more than aware.

WTB will continue to run a large number of stand alone restaurants, even allowing for conversions and disposals.

Well in todays email from Premier Inn tell me about the 56 hotels they now have in Germany where you can kick off your city break with kids staying free and eat free. At 30years of age I don't think my youngest daughter would qualify, or come with us :-)

I have been on a few Germany City breaks and I'd certainly take a look at them now if we decided to go again. Well done to them.

You're right, they're moving away from standalone restaurants open all day to areas within hotels serving breakfast and dinner for hotel patrons. All explained very well with the results, but journalists can't read.

presumably breakfast will still be available at all Premier Inn's - or is this article correct ?

My future is bleak: can I go on without the all-you-can-eat unlimited Premier Inn breakfast?

With the chain selling off 126 restaurants, I’m worried. Will I be able to get the bottomless glasses of orange juice I need?

Yes Karen Jones PDMR, INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, has just bought shares. Not a huge volume but it goes against any 'signal' from the recent director sale highlighted by Shares mag.

Agreed, I have very little time for Andrew Bailey who comes across to me as arrogant and slow to react. The other thing that strikes me is the level of disagreement amongst committee members. I know it's not an exact science but common sense doesn't always prevail.

I agree with Bountyhunter about more disposable income but can't see the B.O.E. reducing interest rates until July at the earliest.

There should be more money in consumer's pockets going forwards with the NI cuts and interest rates set to fall (ok that hasn't happened just yet but that is the expectation and longer term rates on consumer products are already coming down, even if not by much just yet).

WTB shares can be volatile, as with the last November share price dive and then rapid recovery to the year end.

I would guess disappointment is with the number of restaurants they will be left with, even allowing for conversions and those marked for sale.

In terms of financial prospects for WTB, this is very minor.

My only concern would either be a recession, or something leftfield such as another pandemic - hopefully the later is unlikely.

Maybe he's moving to a bigger house or time was running out on exercising those share options. I don't think that one transaction is "an important signal to investors".

Nigel Jones, Group Operations Director at Whitbread PLC, has executed a significant transaction by exercising nil cost options for over 14,000 shares, which were immediately sold for a total of around £450,000. The shares were acquired through the company’s Recruitment and Retention Scheme and Incentive Scheme, reflecting notable insider activity on 1st May 2024 in London. This move could be an important signal to investors about the company’s stock valuation and insider confidence.

I couldn't agree more, I'm holding for the same reasons. Share price performance on the LSE is more erratic now than I've ever seen, partly due to the upcoming election I guess but that should have far less of an effect on WTB than the majority of shares, in my view.

A few months ago analysts were predicting prices of 4,000p, 4,500p and 4,650p.
Given that WTB have a proven growth strategy, and (as yet) no serious threats I am puzzled by the present price collapse. What has caused such a major divergence?? Continued inflation would increase costs and restrict holiday activity, but it should also lead to more people holidaying in UK. I am holding and expecting a recovery. Press headlines this morning of "Whitbread cuts 1,500 jobs" are misleading - the pubs being sold should take many of their jobs with them, and pubs being converted will result in other jobs being required, and the whole process will last 4 years during which WTB will probably be filling a lot of extra positions. I'm holding - good luck all.
