Looks like a takeover may well be on the horizon. Virgin Blue not big in regional WA routes and they may fancy a slice of the mining charter business. All IMHO of course.

Interesting to note confidence in projecting +140% eps for 2011.

Davydoo: thanks for pointing that out. You are of course correct. I did in fact look at the Skywest Australia reviews, but made a mistake with the link when posting to the thread later in the day. I have now corrected it.

Saucepan those reviews are for SkyWest in the US, you can tell by the flight destinations in the reviews. The diffrence is in the capital W. The Australian airline is Skywest. The US airline is SkyWest.

I started buying stock in SKYW at 9p and have added until about 20p. I like the fact that they operate in Australia which has avoided the financial mess of the West, they are debt free, profitable and pay an increasing dividend. And it is a very quiet thread so no short term traders.

JB: I am sorry, I only have the ShareScope data to go on, so would be as interested as you if anyone else can shed further light.

Forecast eps "only" doubles, by the way, from 2.25p to 4.4p.

The data may, of course, be inaccurate; but I have no reason to think this is the case.

As an additional aside, I happened to be searching for user reviews of an airline today that I am considering travelling on. I took the opportunity to see what the site in question had to say about SkyWest. Pleased to see it gets very good customer satisfaction reviews:

Saucepan - Sharescope have the profit increasing from 6.7m to 18.6m next year, doesn`t this seem a huge increase to you? Nearly 3 fold! Not that I`m complaining but this seems a very bullish forecast for a broker IMO. I haven`t researched heavily so would appreciate your (or anyone elses) opinion, TIA! :)

Hi Folks

I joined you long just now, thanks to a heads up from URVNME on the ADVFN Zulu thread. SKYW looks an exciting growth company in the Zulu mode, with no debt.

In case of interest, here is a ShareScope snapshot of fundamentals, showing the impressive growth patterns and value to be had - which is what attracted me:

It also seems a good time to be buying, technically. To me, it looks like the share price is just starting to move up again after a healthy period of consolidation.

Last but not least, it seems I have discovered a quiet ADVFN thread; which is usually a good sign!

The Western Australian State Government through its Department of Transport has advised that Skywest has been selected as the preferred proponent for a further licence of 5 years for continuing air services for the regulated proportion of the coastal network. Skywest has been advised that it is the preferred proponent for the routes of Perth to Albany, Esperance in a sole operator capacity and Learmonth/Exmouth in a shared operator capacity. Final deeds will be negotiated between the Western Australian Government and Skywest.

In respect of Geraldton, Skywest will continue to fly Perth to Geraldton as a deregulated route, with onward connections to Melbourne. As a consequence of the proposed deregulation of this particular route Skywest has now been invited to enter negotiations with the Western Australian State Government concerning provision of services to the associated ports of Carnarvon, Monkey Mia and Kalbarri. Skywest understands that due to tourism and the commercial economic value to the State that the Western Australian State Government seeks a resolution for these towns promptly, preferably by the end of the month. The Company remains eager to continue with these destinations. Skywest has been providing air services to ports in this region over its 47 year history and understands the importance of the service for the local residents, business and tourists.

Commenting, Skywest Executive Chairman said, "Skywest Airlines welcomes the certainty provided by the decision of the Western Australian State Government to award a 5 year preferred proponent operator status to Albany and Esperance and shared operator status for Learmonth/Exmouth and is looking forward to conclusive positive outcomes from the negotiations concerning Carnarvon, Monkey Mia and Kalbarri."

Some chunky trades gone through today - no doubt worked through the market over the last week or so as the price stepped up. Put through today to look like sells and no doubt spook nervy holders, but I'd bet my bottom dollar they are purchases.

The group is benefitting from route and fleet expansion, while continuing to transport staff of all the major mining companies to faraway places.

I seem to remember from the high oil price days that they built in fuel surcharges to their charter contracts which might still be running now.

This is the only news i could find that would support the recent share price gains, especially as australian investors make up an ever increasing proportion

AER ARANN looks set to be taken over by a group comprising its current owner Pádraig Ó Céidigh and an overseas listed company.

It is understood that the airline's examiner is in the final stages of negotiations with the parties about a multi-million-euro investment package into the cash-strapped regional airline.

Great....just after I sold having held for three years.

Still a 52% profit is not too bad I guess, especially having pumped the cash into ANGM with GOLD news expected any day !
