18/2/2011 02:09 | got a few of these for free when they floated, as a customer. Good basic service, nice easy interface albeit no F or K option. Excellent customer service. only able to trade on uk market and they are not good at even trying to buy within the spread ... most of their trades seem to go thru Plus, where they get a good transaction cost but the customer does not get the best market price. Perfectly adequate platform for uk focussed retail investor who perhaps is unaware of some of the market 'trading' tricks. Will probably tickle along for years in a general upward direction but will require a significant step up in management ambitions & trading platform to really gain any decent momentum as a business ..... imho. Sockdrawered the 400 freebies i got .. maybe one day it'll get caught up in some sort of sector consolidation. | mattjos
02/11/2010 13:50 | On the sale of the NE businesses - for a price much below Rainmaker was predicting - he remained bullish on UNIQ for a long time afterwards. At no time following the disposal of the NE businesses did he mention he was selling. Perhaps he was though, eh? | teapreacher
02/11/2010 13:45 | Thanks Loverat and my best wishes to you. Not several people but one person with several identities ie Fact Inventor aka Trendbore +Mreasygoing+Dr No Knowledge + a further 30, maybe 40 ids.But I believe readers see through this.Overwhelmingly Posters were saying that an Investors are always responsible for their own decisions and that nobody forced them to buy. It was a real shame that they changed the interest rate on which the pension liability was calculated and Uniq screwed up the sale of the German and Polish businesses, literally giving them away but that's after the share price went up 10 fold. regards | rainmaker
02/11/2010 13:41 | Loverat: Why didn't he mention at any time he had sold? He ramped it all the way up and then half the way down. At no time did he ever mention that he had actually sold. When the share price was in the 40 pences he was telling the UNIQ thread that he was expecting a big move upward ..."a big whoosh"...at any time. I'd like to know when he was selling. He never told the board when he did so. I was never interested in making a case of "fraud" or whatever. It's just that I don't like people who say one thing while doing another. BTW: I also use the Share Centre. They are very good, an easy trading platform. | teapreacher
02/11/2010 12:58 | All the best Rainmaker. I am sorry that several people on the UNIQ thread made you a scapegoat for their losses. Personally, I believe that whilst the pension issue is very unfortunate their losses were caused by their owned flawed trading strategy. | loverat
01/11/2010 15:39 | Lol Loverat, I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Share Centre are cheap and reliable. regards PS Why have Skodas got heated rear windows? So you can keep your hands warm when you are pushing them! How do you double the price of a Skoda? Fill it up with Petrol! | rainmaker
23/7/2010 22:56 | I reckon the Share Centre is a bit like a Skoda. Many drive one but don't want to admit it. | loverat
23/7/2010 22:47 | It's interesting that you never hear any criticism of their trading platform on ADVFN's bulletin boards. I use them purely for CTFs I had no problems to report in the last six years that I've used them.Commissions are very low as well. regards | rainmaker
23/7/2010 09:58 | I like the entrepreneurial management. | sbs
23/5/2010 19:53 | The Share Centre(SHRE)have announced they will no longer be offering their Customers a batch dealing service as of 12 July. If you remember batch orders are small orders that are grouped and entered into the auction in the next batch run at either 9am, 1pm or 4pm.These are deals valued at less than £750 and commissions start from just £2.50 on purchases. The Share Centre say these trades account for just 10% of all trades and now Customers will be charged their £7.50 minimum commission. Shouldn't be too hard to work out how much extra profit they will make from such a move. regards | rainmaker
24/8/2009 06:49 | Same here, also get a good discount, when trading, if you have share centre shares.Just put out a good intrim report. | handykart

11/4/2009 13:24 | I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this company is doing quite well. | loverat
08/12/2008 21:51 | Looks like another one for the trash can! | redhill
30/11/2008 23:21 | Thanks Rainmaker That sounds like good advice. Some people let their positive experiences cloud their judgement when it comes to deciding whether to invest in a company and do not research properly. I must admit, I also think ADVFN (not for customer service by the way!) has a great asset in this site and I have considered buying the shares in the past. However, I was never convinced that the management had the inclination to exploit this potential, so will not buy. As you say, it is important to consider many factors. Anyway, over the next few days I will post up some research and information about this company for further discussion. All the best. | loverat |
