19/6/2008 17:28 | If LAN do go down in the next few days, imo will give at least a short term boost in the share price of SUY. LAN's share price is now below their Placing Offer price. As LAN say in their RNS: "In the absence of the Issue completing the Company is unlikely to be able to continue to trade in its current form." In otherwords I understand this to mean if their Placing Offer is not taken up they've gone bust... Just before the end of todays play L&G dumped their last remaining shares in LAN, so they for one will not be taking up the offer. | loganair
19/6/2008 17:23 | SUY will stay up getting LANs customers. Nervous few months until Sept. rent bill. | honiton
19/6/2008 16:52 | Boffster - Possibly a good call. Todays statistics. At the start of todays play: SUY 5 1/2p ... LAN 9 3/4p At the end of todays play..: SUY 6 1/2p ... LAN 4 3/4p So todays winner is LAN with an over 50% drop in their sp, even though a RNS saying they have a £15m refinance package in place. Will LAN make a final push and go for Broke tomorrow. | loganair
19/6/2008 16:23 | It looks like LAN are going to win the race.. share price falling below offer price. I suspected they would be the first to turn up their toes. I think its just a case of when the shutters come down now. The question is, lets be harsh and say LAN's sales are 50% of what they were, and SUY's probably 70%, will the reduced competiton, along with some kind of fundraising, be enough to see SUY through? | boffster
19/6/2008 15:43 | matt, LNG posters on the LAN thread as well. looks like we attract cr*p!!! | still waiting
19/6/2008 15:28 | v. tough ride for LAN and SUY.. lan will raise equity for survival.. but its simply v. difficult under current conditions.. and that may last a while.. best of luck.. saffy.. | safman

19/6/2008 11:19 | The who's going to get to 0p first latest. Suy 6p / LAN 5 3/4p. LAN ahead by a short neck...... LAN are trying to cheat by doing a 1 for 10 share consolidation. | loganair
19/6/2008 11:17 | No £5.50p .................... | karn evil 9

19/6/2008 10:36 | Probably but I know the risks. Will make up the loss 8 times over with a 1/4p rise in LNG! ;-) | matt c
19/6/2008 09:45 | Both SUY & LAN share price 6 1/2p. Neck and neck so far to the losing post. | loganair
19/6/2008 09:08 | Bought 10,000 for a giggle at 5.32p before close yesterday. Can only lose £546, upside? you never know. A much better bet than LAN | matt c

19/6/2008 00:08 | CSMWSSK1 - 14 Jan'08 - 09:46 - 250 of 512 edit 20% drop in lfl cannot be accomadated by any business what alot of tosh, what do you do ask the landlords to take a 20% cut in rent and the council a 20% cut in business rates, they are fixed costs and are the biggest costs to any retailer, more than wages. kiwihope - 14 Jan'08 - 10:10 - 251 of 512 ... let's just wait and see shall we ... ydderF - 27 Mar'08 - 04:33 - 302 of 512 kiwihope/Arthur L - but inventories have increased by 3.8m, and they have said that the exceptional spend on advertising was all in the first half with benefits in the second (we are already 1/3 into the second half and the statement says confident of profitability in second half). Against this background, if inventories hadn't risen it would be worrying. csmwsski - it is certain the SCS can't go bust by the 31st March, but they may go bust in future, but this possibility seems to be well provided for in the current share price. Looking at the figures and statement I think the company now has time to manage themselves out of the crisis, which is what the statement suggests they are doing....Thing is, if they don't go bust it is likely that this will be a ten bagger over 3/5 years, so as I see it, the play is a bet on the probability of each outcome, even if you believe the odds are 50/50 it is an attractive gamble to a risk seeking investor....we'll see | csmwssk1
18/6/2008 23:51 | top furniture, lp, I have been through both store lists, from expeience, they both have around 16 good sites, the rest should never have opened. | csmwssk1
18/6/2008 23:35 | guys, cant see a recovery from here in their current state. I can see private equity coming on board after liquidation and picking up best 25 stores and rebadging. Likewise LoL wont survive as is either, they may get new investors, but they owe so much, surely its better to let them go and cherry pick the best stores. This will be good news for DFS, as they will pick up the capacity. The rest of the sector must be hurting as well. | lpavlou
18/6/2008 22:51 | CSM...Nice one...What do you do?? | topinfo
18/6/2008 22:50 | Bet these will hit 3p 2moro and even then they are overvalued by 3 times their true value....Zero 0000000000000000000p | topinfo
18/6/2008 22:49 | well one mans mis-fortune is anothers opportunity, while some fall, others rise from the ashes, its evolution, for every scs or lan store closed other small retailers will open, take me, many years supplying the trade, now opening a store, why now you may ask?, well while on the latest leases scs and lan probably paid £35-£40 sqft i have paid £4, commercial landlords are now desperate to rent out empty shells as they now have to pay the rates coupled with more units coming on the market, tell the landlord you are from next or asda and watch the price per sqft go up as they know they will pay what they have to, tell them you are from bill and bens flower pot company and they will come down to earth and almost beg you to take a unit, I personally believe I will only make a small profit, circa £100k this year, however everyone around me will be struggling to pay their rents, whoever survives the next 12 months will be stronger and fitter and ready to take advantage of an improving market. | csmwssk1 |
