04/4/2008 10:56 | I get the feel that some of the buying that Stancroft has been doing is from those crystalising CGT losses before year end. That might stop after today. Chart starting to look like it's going to break out too. I've been buying over the past week, just added this morning. CR | cockneyrebel
28/3/2008 15:37 | increase in stake. didn't cost much did it?? | honiton
28/3/2008 14:05 | I notice DFS still have their sale running - must be a drag on sales prices for SUY and LAN Shirley? Do SCS and LAN still have sales going? Was supposed to be a 4 day sale at SCS. CR | cockneyrebel
27/3/2008 12:14 | freddy, said race is on, after lol results today looking like lol will be first, but statement by scs ceo yesterday basically said we could go bust very soon, no danger in price falling from here, 50p down to 20p down to jack all, to put £2k in at these levels is numpty stuff. | csmwssk1
27/3/2008 11:59 | They have an internet terminal at the Burns Unit then Frauddy? Why not just buy APG instead? £1m profit this year, property assets of around £14m, no debt, £55m sales, mkt cap £9.5m and they are looking to start paying a divi rather than do away with it! The business park they have planning for will add to earnings and boost assets too. A no brainer at this level - and £2.5m cash plus £1m odd in past losses to uses against tax. Stop fire eating and buy some real assets and earnings. FCCN going well today - 49p in cash, profitable, 6% yield - there's so many better places than SUY - you're in here and gonna get your Rs branded on the griddle between now and the next T/S probably. There's less painful ways to throw your cash away! CR | cockneyrebel
27/3/2008 04:33 | kiwihope/Arthur L - but inventories have increased by 3.8m, and they have said that the exceptional spend on advertising was all in the first half with benefits in the second (we are already 1/3 into the second half and the statement says confident of profitability in second half). Against this background, if inventories hadn't risen it would be worrying. csmwsski - it is certain the SCS can't go bust by the 31st March, but they may go bust in future, but this possibility seems to be well provided for in the current share price. Looking at the figures and statement I think the company now has time to manage themselves out of the crisis, which is what the statement suggests they are doing....Thing is, if they don't go bust it is likely that this will be a ten bagger over 3/5 years, so as I see it, the play is a bet on the probability of each outcome, even if you believe the odds are 50/50 it is an attractive gamble to a risk seeking investor....we'll see | ydderf
26/3/2008 22:42 | well the race is on, will these go by 31st march or lan? | csmwssk1
26/3/2008 17:44 | They've massaged their cash figure by not paying their creditors, unfortunately that can't last forever. | arthur_lame_stocks
26/3/2008 09:34 | there gonna go along with lan, they are both been done over by high cost stores to close together, online retailers importing nice stuff cheap and selling on without retail park rent and rates, not to mention diy stores and argos and a much better run company thats use to all this called DFS which will be screwing the lid on the coffins. | csmwssk1
26/3/2008 09:03 | Conserving cash for now but current assets minus current liabilities has deteriorated from +1.6M to -7.5M. Have they secured better terms from their suppliers? They need to turn this around quickly otherwise the cash position will worsen rapidly ... | kiwihope
22/3/2008 19:59 | Hi CSMWSSK1. I'm out of these. Spooked a few weeks back so scalped out - one of this crowd has to go belly up to leave more business for the rest imo. Once that happens I might revisit. All looks a bit grim for this group of co's imo. CR | cockneyrebel
21/3/2008 21:36 | CR 4 day sale normal around easter, but where the sofas awful or what, only thing going for SCS was LOL and Harveys sofas where as bad, although LOL not on tv at Easter Weekend? very bad sign, gone with a leaflet drop instead, might not have paid last tv advert bill!, btw the voice over on the SCS ads sounded like the same guy that use to do Courts, not a good omen (he must be cheap) | csmwssk1
17/3/2008 18:47 | Hey Frauddy, I See SUY have a '4 Day Sale' just started - not a normal occurance imo. CR | cockneyrebel
21/2/2008 22:37 | fillipe, it takes a few seconds to locate the annual report. Why invest without it? Try page 22. | typo56
21/2/2008 10:16 | The Office for National Statistics revealed that retail sales in January were 0.8 pct higher, on a seasonally-adjusted basis, than the previous month, when retail sales fell by 0.2 pct. January's performance was far better than the 0.2 pct monthly rise analysts had expected and the highest monthly rate since February 2007's 1.7 pct. The buoyant monthly performance helped the annual rate double in January to 5.6 pct, again beating analysts' forecasts of a 4.8 pct increase. | mister md
20/2/2008 19:42 | Historically ScS has always moved on very little volume. Every purchase and sale I've made in ScS has moved the price by 5-20p (The share price was in pounds then). The spread also used to be a killer. | darrin1471
20/2/2008 16:44 | Thks. Even better at the close and on volume less than 20K. | fillipe
20/2/2008 15:58 | Someone making a bid? | holmess
20/2/2008 14:38 | either a delayed buy, or the seller has finally run out of shares to sell, possibly both, good short term trade perhaps if you don't believe the longer term story....on the other hand it sould deflate as suddenly rose - either way i don't care as i am a two year holder..... | ydderf
20/2/2008 14:17 | Looks like a big uptick without any apparent volume. Can't see why the increase, particularly on a bad day ? | fillipe
14/2/2008 18:10 | RCTurner....somehow I doubt it with more than 500,000 shares traded today.....presumably more stakebuilding by an idiot impatient bottom picker? | ydderf |
