The current strength of US futures suggests you may have been right Dope.

Is is it the imminent announcement of a 'dove' to replace Bernanke?

Or are there rumours that the GOP is about to roll over?

Bizarrely the GBP is falling against both the EUR and USD.

There seems to be a disconnect between Gilts, FX and the cash markets.

The Treasury will be happy. The yield on the UK 10 year is falling ... currently 2.65%. I wonder if US money is moving into UK Gilts?

PRESIDENT Barack Obama will today nominate Janet Yellen to be the new chair of the Federal Reserve, making her the first woman to hold the most important job in the global financial system.

Yellen will replace the outgoing Ben Bernanke at the end of January subject to approval by the US Senate, a White House spokesman confirmed early this morning.

You are quite right

I never heard of the govt doing anything wrong when Tony & Gordon were running the show and they always got their soundbites in first.

That old BBC stalwart Peter Sissons is happy to say it how it is

'Sissons told the paper: "The real difficult is that the overwhelming view of the BBC's news executives is broadly sympathetic towards the Labour party and is inclined to always give Labour the benefit of the doubt.

"There is a political imbalance within the BBC which in this case has led to a basic failure of journalism."
