Rumours of a possible approach from ArcelorMittal continue to surround Morgan Crucible, sending its share price up by 22p.

Cannot decide if these are a bargain or not. Last set of results were good and very positive outlook. share price down from 350p to 250p and back to 2007 levels. These seems like another great British comapny that could get swallowed up by a foreign buyer. Any views out their ?
Today down 1.1% whilst market is positive

I've just bought back the shares I sold very fortunately (and luckily) a couple weeks ago. Sold them for 353p, bought back just now at 264. Not sure I've done the right thing the way the markets are, but i expect when (or if!) the markets settle down this will do well. Effectively, I've just increased my divi expectations by 25%.

The troubles at Charter International, and last month's shock profits warning, cast a pall over the engineering sector as analysts feared that they suggested a pending global industrial slowdown. Most engineering bosses said they saw no signs of it. Now Morgan Crucible, which supplies a wide range of industries with materials such as ceramics, has said something similar. The shares still sell on little more than 13 times this year's earnings, which suggests further progress in due course, says the Times.

Wasn't expecting a nice wee "next weeks results will be good" statement today! Excellent rise on the back of it and more to come hopefully!
Last years EBIT was 102m and PBT was 67m for the full year so assuming a similar performance in H2 then 140m EBIT and c90/100m PBT for this year. Would tie in nicely with the growth in EPS they predicted in February Results
