my mate wet and loaded his pants when he got a £6k margin call at 278p on this stock.

looks like the press were speculating a german or french competitor is prosable for making a bid. morgan's directors have dashed these speculative claims saying their digussions are stil on with a cash bid suitor.

A few weeks back there were press speculation that a venture capitalist could be interested in making a bid. Morgan is the type of turnaround story that may interest venture capitalists. morgan is a growth stock, they have increased margins by locating in cheaper production countries like india. They have cut debt and are in good shape, ripe for a takeover by a venture capitalist that can buy the company up and then finance the debt by releasing debt from the company's asstes. The company was at the brink of bankruptcy and have proved they can bounce back in a healthier shape. They repayed most of their debt and is becoming cash rich. An investor bidding for morgan would be able to eventually pay off the debt on the balance sheet or help the company out when finace in streched, their overall aim to one day recover what they paid for morgan and substantially profit. On a chartist view I bought in on a breakout of 281p and am currently long, I added more expopsure at 291p and am looking for a further breakout buying opportunity around 301p. Once the stock pushes behond 300p my stop loss is raised and tightened towards 298p.

looks like a venture capitalist may make a bid according to the press comments a few weeks back. One german competitor had pulled out then a major shareholder reduced their stake at 272p. The market is guessing that the bid could be below 280p. It's a difficult call, the share price looks like it could gain support arround 273p level. The bollenger bands are tightening up and a short trading range is beiing market out. I predict a sudden break from the tight trading range within the next two weeks. Those impatient must of sold out and those beliving in a bid are holding tight. The volume suggests very low activity. When the stock rises on high volume and closes about 276p then that may imply some postive news about to come.

This stock could trace lower and test 260p if news in regards to the price not come out soon. My guess is investors will start to lose patience around 3rd week of bid announcement. So far week 1 has gone by, next week will be another frustration week for hungry news investors. By the 3rds week the stock could slip below 270p. It's all a matter of time.

I agree 400p does sound a bit unbelievable, I suppose we will have to sit tight until the news leaks out.

"M&A hopes continued to underpin Morgan Crucible after the engineering group confirmed just before the close yesterday it was the target of a bid approach, but did not name its suitor. This morning, The Times thinks a US trade bidder is possible, while The Guardian says France's Saint Gobain could be interested. In reaction, Bridgewell retained its 'overweight' recommendation and said the group's strong balance sheet and potential margin upside suggest a generous exit price, maybe up to 400 pence."

I'd be surprised to see 400p unless a bidding war breaks out. My guess would be that the opening play is priced somewhere between 315p and 345p a share.

There must be some information on the bid value I just can't find it. share price slowed today so let's hope tomorrow pushes it a little higher and we can get the champagne on ice.

Morganl Stanley sold over 5 million shares at 247p on Thursday. This has weakened the stock and may test the 240p level.

Yesterday Morgan Stanley Sold about £12.4 Million of Morgan Crucible
Morgan Stanley at 247p, there is no news as to why they sold this stock. I'm hopeing that the large selling that depressed the market yesterday alt to rebound now the large seller has been taken out. Techically it looks like the stock drifted lower as investertor with stop limits at 249p could of been triggered. Chartwise it was critcial that the stock did not close below 246p. This would of given a short term sale signal on my charting system. Yesterday's close was 246.5p, that's not a confirmed sale signal.

I can only speculate that Morgan Stanley sold their stock in MGCR to take profits or reduce their exposure and not because they know something the market don't. Recently MGCR said they would beat market expectations in their results. Morgan Stanley sold into a rising stock value when the potential is good.
