                  MONTERRICO RECEIVES CONFIRMATION OF THE SALE
                  OF 10% OF ITS SHARES TO LS-NIKKO COPPER INC


LONDON, 25 September 2007:  Further to the announcement made on 4 September,
Monterrico is pleased to announce confirmation that Xiamen Zijin Tongguan
Investment Development Co., Ltd ("Zijin Consortium") have sold 2,630,606
ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the capital of Monterrico (the "Shares") to
LS-Nikko Copper Inc ("LSNC") and that the transaction was completed as planned
on 21 September 2007.  These Shares represent approximately 10% of issued share
capital of Monterrico. The Shares were placed at a price of 370 pence per Share,
which is at a premium to the prevailing share price.

LS-Nikko is a Korean joint venture founded by Korea's LG Cable and Japan Korea
Joint Smelting and is the second largest copper smelting company in the world.
